Hmmm. Maybe they will grow on me. But initial impression is that I am glad I am not in the market for a new bike for 2013. I wonder where the 2013 P3C and the P5 pics are...can barely see a P5 in one pic :)

I definitely like the color scheme of my 2012 P2 over the 2013 P2, quite frankly it's ugly and I like understated. I did see a pic of the 2013 R3 awhile ago, and I did like it, a lot.

I can't claim that it was used by Triumph the Insult Comic dog when referring to the Bon Jovi concert patrons in one of his spoofs. But yea I'd equate the new P2's paint to that either way.

I'll keep my 2012 S5 over these, but at least on the S series bikes, it's clear that Cervelo is trying to draw your eye away from the extra-tall headtube (at least on larger sizes) by making the head tube black with color and logoing on the seat tube and top tube. I think they actually succeed on that front.

Hmm. Just because increased surface area allows larger font size, it doesn't mean you have to have huge fonts. The R series is nice. The S5 and P2, I feel like I'm being yelled at.

because aesthetics play a critical role in swaying people on bike choices?

I really like the S5 & S2 road bikes. P2....dunno, but I am drawn to bikes w/ red in them, so that is probably why I am lukewarm on it.

Either way, a nice change of pace for Cervelo.

I'm also a fan of these. I think the paint schemes from the last couple of years have been boring and ugly. I like that they've punched them up a little bit again. My favorite Cervelo paint scheme of all time is still the blue and grey 2009 P2 Ultegra (like the one in this thread).

Looks to me like no p3 in the line up.

I think Cervelo is crazy not to jump in and release...leak some high quality shots of the bikes next to a great mountain backdrop etc to put a positive spin on this. Right now all we have are some low quality shots that don't do the new paint scheme's justice. The way cervelo handles itself from a marketing point of view with availability and information really makes me question their marketing team.

R series not bad - but could lose extra 'cervelo' logo on top tube. But sweet Jesus, the S series and P series are retro(grade). Matte finish is a nice change but the super sized logos - what were they thinking? They will age badly. I for one liked the idea of the colour stripe up the fork across the headtube tapering into the top tube. They should have stuck with this and played around with the base colour and stripe colour(s). Now it's the equivalent of an alarm going off during a hangover!! Glad I've just got my 2012 S5 Team!

Colour/shmolour. You guys can always buy another tri suit/helmet/pair of shoes so that you're still nicely coordinated with the current year colourways.

FWIW in this fashion thread, the P2 frame looks pretty nice.

Here are more pics and including the P3.

The S5 VWD is available with Shimano Dura Ace Di2 for $9,500 or mechanical Dura Ace for $7,500.

The S5 (non VWD) is available with Ultegra Di2 for $5,500 or mechanical Ultegra for $4,300.

The S2 is "entry level" with 105 at $2,800.

The R5 comes with three different build kits - electronic Campy EPS 11-speed for $11,00, Dura Ace Di2 for $9,000 or mechanical DA for $7,000.

The R3 will be available with Ultegra for $3,900 or 105 for $2,600

The P5-Six is the triathlon version (left) and is available with Dura Ace Di2 for $10,000 or SRAM Red for $7,500. The P5-three (right) is UCI legal and is available with Red for $6,000.

The P3 comes with Ultegra for $3,800.

The P2 comes in at $2,600 with an Ultegra group.

Word on the street is that the manufacturers are pissed off at SRAM since they've released so many mid-season Red updates/versions in such a short time frame - Red, Red Black, 2012 Red Yaw.

I think these are a step in the right direction, and I like the fonts their playing with. However it only makes it more apparent how painfully awful the puffy-paint font of the "Cervelo" logo is. It is really way past due to get a graphic designer to come up with a decent logo.

Not necessarily....prices have gone up across the board, for the most part. Labor is China is up, raw material costs are up, shipping costs are up....

I wouldn't necessarily expect frame revisions simply becausew the price is higher. It could have new routing, but don't use the price as your guide.

You've got to give them credit. Rolling out the exact same bike frame 9yrs running and people still buy it.

I like simple, solid coloured frames myself. Cervelo seems to go back and forth with this. The R-series seems to be returning to a more simple look, from the past couple of years. While the S and the P-series seem to be going for TWO-TONE LOUD GRAPHICS ALL AROUND! :)

My favourite frame, not for what it is but for the way it looks is the R5CA, but I would have to win the lottery to afford one of those! :)

Laughs aside, you could probably do a business case study of the impact that the Slowtwitch forum had, back at a key critical time in the growth of Cervelo. Co-founder Gerard Vroomen posted frequently, and intelligently back in the early '00's when Cervelo was just really starting to roll, and this coincided with the first wave of the importance and roll that the internet played at many levels.

Why? Didn't brand C pay for the discount? The dealers sold a lot of bikes. All they had to do was match pairs together.

@ campyrick...agreed that there does not appear to be any cable holes on the DT for the P3. I think it would be odd to upgrade one and not the other. OTOH, I guess they could use it to help drive more differentiation between the two models.

I would have thought they would have made that change awhile ago, though....

I'm less interested in the paint and more interested to know if Cervelo has introduced cable routing on the top tube a la P4/S2/S3/S5... anyone know?

I was just at lbs, because this whole cable routing thing has me all excited. I saw a higher resolution photo of the P3 (bad news) and could see the cable entry on the down tube in the black area. Oh well it was fun to think about getting one.

I wouldn't wait for a new P3, they are going up in price. I love the new paint, but not enough to spend 500 more.

I've been waiting long engh that I won't mind another 500. Overall build will run around 7-8K so I'll stomach it if I like it more. Just don't know what it looks like. Dying to see a pic. To tell you the truth, I hope I don't like it so I can go ahead and buy the frame now!

Maybe thurn that thought around. Who would buy a bike that takes an extra 5, 10 or 20 watts to pedal at X speed? Not me. I buy the fastest bike my budget can afford. I produce so few watts that I need both of them (the watts) to do the best they can. These days, that's aboard a Cervelo.

Interesting, $3,800 for a P3 and it *only* comes with Ultegra. I would hope for Dura-Ace at that price point. (Now go ahead and slam the Felt-Fanboy!)

I wish the R3 came with a little more pop of color, a little red wouldn't have been bad.

But, as with all other Cervelos, you're paying for the "knowledge" that it's the fastest frame you can buy. Felts are better "deals."

ETA: and Felts are obviously no slouch in the aero department. Their 2013 B series are going to be pretty dang sweet

Have they gone back to the profile bars as standard equip for next year? Liked the 3t set up quite a bit more. Hard to tell from that pic.

I'm glad I purchased my R3 this year. That silver/grey R3 is scary looking.

At $2600 for a 105 build, that's a big price drop from the 2012 MSRP of $3150 for Rival (down from $3500) -- still, that paint job is just hideous.

Edit (Sept. 7): Cervelo updated their website and the paint job for the 105 version is different than the Ultegra version -- the 105 looks much better to me (no red/black "accents").

Cervelo has always been rather consistent in explaining the difference between the P2 and the P3 to be the seat tube on the P3 being curved...and consistent that the curved seat tube adds $1000 to the price as compared to the P2. They seem to be rather consistent with that story here. So, given that...the pricing seems rather consistent.

Knowing what I know today...I'd pick up a P2 again...like I did in 2009...and I would not upgrade to Dura-Ace from Ultegra...unlike what I did in 2009.

Pick up the P2, get some Flo wheels, and have some change left over...you would have a great, high quality, long lasting ride.

How's this for size? Verifying the downtube cable routing.

I was just curious if anyone has had issues with the carbon frame on your P3 cracking and if so does Cervelo stand behind their "lifetime" warranty??
I have a 2012 P3 that is 9 months old and now has a crack in the BB and one near the seat stay. Took it to the LBS who took pics and sent them to Cervelo 2 weeks ago and we are still waiting for an answer. The LBS said they usually do replace but getting and answer it what takes forever.

Thanks

I like the S5 also... as well as all the other paint schemes. Maybe I'm biased though.

yes they should stand behind it, I believe they are working with some new staff members in customer service so it may be taking longer than normal. Press your shop to call back and stay on them, you should be taken care of.
