If you really sweat alot and you get salt on your face and on your visor is it smart to eat more salt or the more salt you eat the more you sweat?

Greyhound, IMO it depends on your total time of activity. I've read that if one perspires alot, then they should determine how much fluid they actually lose per hour. Do this by weighing yourself fully hydrated, then go for an hour run preferably in conditions similar to race conditions. When done, towel dry your body and weigh yourself again. For each lb. of weight lost you need to replenish with approx. 16 fl. oz. As for electrolytic replacement, Hammer Nutrition recommends their Endurolytes. They make recommendations as to some beginning guidelines, but state that that one MUST do their own trial to determine what works best for them. Good luck.

You definitely need to replace that salt. I don't mean this to sound like a smart ass, but you wouldn't drink less water just because you sweat a lot. It's the same idea. What comes out, must go back in.

I also adopt the philosophy of replacing what goes out, and hence ensure I eat adequate salts. But I seem to have heard on this forum somewhere that your body can adapt to lose less salt per volume of fluid sweat out. Is this possible?
