Morning, Morans! Back for the Day! I see the loser Left (out there, not here) is still whining, eh? (Bwahahaha!)

You lefties and your man in the White House just got rolled, and by a really, really weak and totally useless debt deal, on top of it. C'mon...who among you, right now, would vote for that guy currently running the White House (only the WH, 'cuz he sure ain't running the country)? Give me the list of excuses for why this particular president, among all 43 before him, should get a second chance to dick things up even more than he already has. I'll be waiting. An once you-all put your little heads together and re-anoint The One I'll give you the first 34,000 reasons why he should be heading back to Hyde Park, come January 2013. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Yes, we can (run those running dogs outta town, and replace them with our own running dogs ;-). What a mess! I've come to the conclusion that all politicians are just like baby diapers. They need to be changed regularly and for the same reasons diapers do.

Your handle is perfect for you, Snoot(y)s. You must be one a them rich, white filled-with-guilt libby smart boys with a buncha degrees and a job as a barista at Starbucks or something, right? Either that, or you're a PaulBot, and I don't know which one is worse. Been around a few of them the last couple weeks. Yeah, the Left will swallow hard (in more ways than one, and like they've been doing since the guy first tricked people into thinking he had a clue) and vote for the guy but the independents have taken a pass on him, the center's getting sick of him and those fools in the Senate, like Chuckie-boy Schumer, are the only folks that saved him from looking totally idiotic over the course of the "negotiations" on that debt bill. Talk about dicking things up. But that's what you get when you got a White House full of "smart" folks from academia and not much else going for them. One thing's for sure: University law school professors certainly don't have what it takes to be the President.

Back when I was like 15 I got some great advice from my older sister. I had a crush on this girl who already had a boyfriend. Dude was a total loser, and I'd go on and on about what a loser the guy was.

My sister pulled me aside, and said, "If you want the girl, you never, ever mention the other guy. You just show her how much more fun she might have with you, and she'll figure it out for herself."

I'm sure you've taken my point - but, yes, I'm sure you can give us 34,000 reasons. But we've heard them all. Over and over. The WSJ recently trotted out the reliable old "exceptionalism" argument again.

I am the Great American Silent Majority. I'd vote for maybe half the GOP candidates over Obama, not none of them really excite me. Help them promote their ideas. The GOP needs more support from the poor, blacks, latinos, and the young. Rather than villainizing them, win them over. Teach them why Obama's policies are not in their best interest, not through condescension and vitriol, but patience and reason.

I did eventually get the girl, but it took me three years.

Patience and reason ain't my gig here, hoss. You know that. And the Left (let's just say, for clarity's sake, the American Left and American "Progressivism") is L.O.S.I.N.G.; its mind, its reason, its raison d'etre...you name it. If the so-called "Great American Silent Majority" (supposedly, something like exists and it's been hiding out with the Hobbits and the unicorns) needs any more convincing, then it needs work at Lighthouse for the Blind, or sommat, and there's nothing anybody's going to be able to say to that "majority" to put it in a better state of mind. Besides, at this point I think that just about anybody that runs against The One has a better than even chance of unseating him, and I honestly don't see many folks -- outside of this board, which likes to pride itself on its reason and intellect -- out there crying to be "convinced" to not vote for Obama. His presidency alone is doing all the convincing most folks are going to need, though the mainstream media will do its best to carry The One's scrotal sack over the course of the election campaign.

Oh, please. Your boy Clinton was dragged kicking and screaming to the dance by Gingrich and his fellow 'Pub rapists, who bent him over and forced him to do what shoulda been done in the first place. And Clinton and the first Bush before him were just riding a quarter-century long wave of prosperity brought about by Reagan, against whom Obama's trying to compare himself. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's a laugh. And you trotting out events from the Clinton era, to obscure and excuse away the COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE OF THE OBAMA PRESIDENCY TO THIS POINT, is par for the course for the Left. "But, but, but...mommy!" Hahahahahaha!

Obama's going down like the Titanic, and you guys in the horn section of the band playing "Nearer My God to Thee" or whatever the hell it was they were really playing better grab some deck chairs, lash 'em together and bail out while you can or he's taking you down with him. It's painfully clear at this point that NOTHING is going to be able to be fixed until THE OBAMA PRESIDENCY IS OVER. You guys can't even see that he and his ideology are the problems because you're so invested in the idea of The One.

Nice try, though, keed. Better luck next time. Like, in about 30 years, when -- just like Carter -- the Left in America somehow manages to convince folks here in the U.S. of A. that they've got their big boy pants on and can be trusted to sit at the adult table without spilling their Kool Aid all over said table.

Pains me to say it, but she'd have been a much, much better President than this guy. "Walking disaster" is about the best grade I can give him right now. And I'm not saying the 'Pubs covered themselves in any glory, either, over the last few weeks. Good Lord, but what a hash-up both sides made of the debt "deal."

Certainly, it has more answers than the bereft-of-ideas Left (or "Progressive Left"). Face it, big guy: Your man has screwed the pooch in a myriad of ways. He's a rigid ideologue but he doesn't even have the spine or the taste for the fight. He totally caved to a small group of "towel-snapping crazies" from the Tea Party (according to Mo Dowd) and he didn't get one single thing out of the debt deal except some supposed promise to not have to revisit the issue during 2012, when he'll be raking in money from all you guilty liberal types, fat lotta good that's gonna do him. "Don't call my bluff, Eric!" BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

See, that's something you lefty types don't get: If you don't wanna put 'em up and slug it out -- like Obama obviously doesn't want to do -- then you're gonna lose every time. Problem for Obama and the Left is, there are plenty of folks on the conservative Right (notice I didn't say "Republican?") who understand the game the Left continually plays, ain't gonna take it any longer, and will fight and if the folks in Congress purporting to represent the conservative Right don't wanna do the job, then they'll be broomed, too. I told you before: Time for talk is over (except here, I suppose).

I don't drink, smoke and I'm a vegetarian, so obviously if I'm on a drunk it's on the good feelings I'm getting in watching the full-on retreat by the Left and its nominal head, The One, that's all.

You're not getting it. Government's the problem in so many areas, that most of the folks like me want it out of our lives to a reasonable extent. We don't want it telling us what lightbulbs we can have, or what sort of insurance we HAVE to buy. We want it to work responsibly, to spend money we give it (and it's OUR money, not the government's) wisely and to limit itself to the activities that "the several states" don't do for themselves. Government's far too big, far too intrusive and far to quick to nanny state us back into a set of Dr. Dentons, but I suppose folks like you are comfortable with that, right? All on the premise that it's somehow doing something for most folks that they can't do for themselves, right? I don't have a problem with government when it's helping the helpless because that's a duty we all have, but I do have a serious problem with it helping the clueless, which is what it seems to be doing more and more of lately. That's a problem, bud. And government needs to unf@*k itself right smartly or we're going to do it for them.

I do like mocking, that's for sure. Especially mocking the obdurate and clueless, but if you're neither of those -- and just a Clinton fetishist, which I can live with -- then you've nothing to worry about, correct?

I don thin' so Queeksdraw, Hillary is just a slightly smarter version of Obama.

She'd have at least cut a deal long before things got to the point they did over the last week, when it came to the debt "deal." I don't know about her supposed "foreign policy hawk" credentials because Lord knows she and her State Department have royally screwed things up pretty much around the world, and if she's just being a loyal footsoldier in executing Obama's own foreign policy "vision" (BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!) then she's proven herself to be just as hungry for power and prestige as anybody else.

I'm wondering how many people voted for The One back in 2008 and during the Dem primaries are now wishing they'd have voted for Hillary? She cleaned Obama's clock in the big states and it's only because he and his team gamed the caucus states that he managed to outlast her by clinging to the delegate lead they'd built up early in the primary season that he's even in the White House right now (always admitting that John McCain's piss-poor campaign and the generally piss-poor rep the 'Pubs had built up in the years before the 2008 election gave him a helping hand, too).

Now I hear The One's out on the campaign trail, saying his new focus is on "the economy and jobs." Good God...where was his focus before? On $36,000 a plate campaign fundraising dinners? On sucking up to my hermanos y hermanas over at La Raza? This guy's gotta go, plain and simple.

Oh, we've got plenty, but you wouldn't understand it anyway because you like what we're living through, that much is obvious. Dust the chalk off your fingertips, professore, and wake up. We've already hit the brick wall because the clueless dipshits (especially in the White House and the Senate) ARE running the country. What? You think things are looking up? If you do, you need to get back to third grade, or sommat, bud. Or go ride your bike some more and get better at the sport that probably brought you to these golden glades in the first place. Other than his quite-frankly naive foreign policy, I don't have much of a problem with Paul. His PaulBots are a little disconcerting and some of them are too slavish in their devotion to what they say are libertarian ideals but understand this: At this point, if Ron Paul's the nominee in 2012, he's getting as much money and time from me as I can give to him to help make him president.

By the way, I'm in favor of killing terrorists, not Muslims. Terrorism is a tactic, not an enemy. If you choose to use terrorism as a tactic -- like the 'tard in Norway or like Al-Zawahiri or like the Aryan Brotherhood (if it even exists anymore) -- then you should be killed. Dr. Paul, who's obviously a very smart man, should understand that you don't negotiate with barbarians using tactics consisting of terrorism. When you do, as I've said numerous times before, and you give them everything they want (like "leaving them alone") then they'll take what you give them, thank you politely and boil you in oil anyway.

That's a long war, buddy. Warfare's something you don't know anything about, but which many of us manly men who've defended their country do (okay..I couldn't resist that one, so sue me), so I wouldn't count on that little skirmish -- where The One and his minions rammed through a still deeply-unpopular healthcare "reform" bill without any Republican support, just like any set of apparatchiks from the old Soviet Politburo might do -- deciding anything just yet, especially come 2012.

Face it, bro: Guilty white liberal types -- especially the guilty white ones working for the federal government -- are his biggest support base with any money to give to him. Blacks and Hispanics (especially blacks) have fared so poorly under this guy it's a wonder they haven't deserted him in droves, as yet. And thank God for The One that we tax income in this country and not wealth, or all the wealthy white trust fund babies wouldn't be so appreciative of the guy as they are. Yup, gonna be an interesting 2012, braddah.

Sincerely, Towel-Snapping Crazy Number One

Good to hear from you! Have fun in your little echo chamber, feeding your little drones (uh, I mean dittoheads). Someday you'll look back, and see that the unrelenting partisanship that you cheerled merely impeded efforts to find lasting solutions to the problems facing our country. Stay in touch!

Sorry, but unrelenting partisanship at this point is probably a damn sight better than the so-called "compromise" we just witnessed last week. All we did was trade away a little temporary "security" and supposed safety so that the alligators can eat a few more folks ahead of us before they work their way around to us. You living in Dreamland (AKA "California") should know that better than anybody else. That state's the canary in a coal mine that died a long time ago, only the rest of us are too willfully blind to see it lying there in the cage, beak upturned and eyes glazed over.

See, folks in the "mainstream" in DC aren't getting that some of the people that have been sent there don't care about getting reelected and that they're really not interested in "negotiating," which for too long has been "give the Dems everything they'll want and we can all get along." That little soiree is long over, sirrah. We've spent 50 years "negotiating" and now our debt actually exceeds our GDP for the first time in ages (we can't even win a crappy little dustup against some tinpot dictator in Libya -- what with all that "smart power" we're projecting? What a shock!) our credit rating should've already been downgraded simply because we're borrowing from our MasterCard to pay on our Visa Card.

I liked that tired old trope, by the way ("...lasting solutions to the problems facing our country"). That'll be my takeaway when it comes to answering the question: "Why has the Left/Liberalism/Progressivism so utterly failed in its governance and in its philosophy over the last half-century?" You're shilling for a failed ideology, mi amigo. Europe has already apparently caught on to that, yet the President you so joyfully helped elect intends to keep trying the very things here that have so completely shattered the social welfare state over there. What's that thing about the definition of insanity having something to do with trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result? That's what's going on in DC, for the most part, sad to say.

So a couple questions so I can understand your disdain for government intrusion.

Did you raise hell when the Defense of Marriage Act was passed and do you favor it's repeal?

Where was the Teat Party when the Patriot Act was passed? And do you favor it's repeal?

See, that's why libbies like you always lose in the end. "Teat Party." Wow. That's so original. Keep focusing on the condescension when it comes to those folks, 'cuz you're gonna wake up after being whacked with the two-by-four and not even realize you walked right into the fire sack and suffered the assault from your front and your rear.

By the way, that's another serious defect most libs have: They seem to think there's some sort of monolithic philosophy to the tea parties and its supporters, when in fact if there's one at all it's that Liberalism has failed the country almost completely. Here's a homework assignment for you, and it's on something most libs love, which is the "War on Poverty" (so noble, and it's the kind of war that most libs would gladly sign up to fight): How much has poverty declined since the start of Johnson's Great Society and its wars on this-or-that? Counting the Earned Income Tax Credit, how many trillions of dollars have we spent on eliminating poverty, which surely must now be a ghost, considering we've been making war on it since something like 1965?

See, you're so bunged up about "tea baggers" (another original appellation from the "ad hominem crowd," which has totally run out of ideas about how to fix the country) that you can't see that none of them care what you call them, so long as the objective is won in the end. And I don't care about marriage, other than it's an issue for the states to decide through the voices and votes of their own citizens. I don't care that so-called "gay marriage" is legal in New York and not in, say, Ohio. If Ohio decides it wants to legalize gay marriage, or not legalize it, Ohio has the right (notice I didn't say the courts in Ohio?). If Idaho doesn't, Idaho also has that right. Is that so difficult for the pointy-head egghead crowd to understand?

And how is the Patriot Act some sort of litmus test for much of anything, considering that at the few hundred tea party rallies I've observed there may have been a couple of LaRouchies (nobody's idea of a mainstream conservative Rightist, by the way) that even gave a damn about it? Here, I'll make it easy for you: The tea parties aren't against good government -- and that means a government that uses the proper tools to help keep the peace, the safety and security and the general welfare of the United States without infringing on the basic liberties of its citizens. At this point in time, the number of tea partiers that might care about the Patriot Act (unlike here, where all the smart folks among the intelligentsia think it's some big deal to them) is about pip point oh two percent, or something. Nobody cares, dude.

Right now, the tea parties -- not that I'm a national spokesman for them or anything -- have one issue, and that's the continuing inability of the federal government to be a reliable keeper of the public purse. Nothing else, at least among the groups I've observed, even comes close to being an issue for them. You don't understand that, because you think in terms of social justice, which is probably doing more to discredit its own themes over the last few years than at any point since the elections of 1980. Too bad your love affair with the idea (not its practical application) of social justice is going to deprive the next few generations of children any ability to even partake of it, so bankrupt are we going to be.

Teat Party was a typo, but I LOVE it. Thanks for pointing it out. Your desire to be outraged at everything is quite telling though.

DOMA and the Patriot Act are litmus tests because they are huge expansions of government intrusion into personal lives. Both were opposed, but by liberals, not the tea baggers. I didn't ask about whether the tea party favored repeal. I asked if YOU did. But of course, you have nothing so you didn't answer.

And tea baggers came from the tea baggers. They called themselves that. But if you prefer teat party I can go with that.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

Well the coward has returned, all full of spitfire & hubris. How amusing. Your posting volume on this thread in the course of just a few hours is impressive. Of course if I give my 5 year old a bunch of paper & some crayons she can also produce quite a bit of bird cage lining as well.

Do you have ANYTHING original to add, or are you simply going to regurgitate the ditto-head talking points of the day ad nauseum?

Offer still is on the table: any dollar amount you wish to wager on Obama's re-election? Heck, I'll still give you 5-1 odds. $100? $1000?

Or are you going to tuck tail & run away like a little bitch again?

Mike, you and your money can both go fuck yourselves. I'm not interested in money this go around, and you only use it to try to prove how superior you think you are. Truthfully, you should probably use it to help some of the poor that you proclaim to care so much about, while you trot on back to your enclave in some rich white community in Cali. You and I have nothing in common, that much is for sure, other than maybe triathlon. Certainly, we come from different worlds and I don't much like yours, or you, so stay away from me.

Clean the sand out of your pussy, Mike. You're just trying to silence anybody that doesn't agree with your twisted line of claptrap, whereas I don't much care who agrees or doesn't agree with mine, here in the LR. I like to fight, or discuss or argue or whatever else you want to call what I do. You, like much of the Left in the real world, just can't stand anybody who disagrees with your worldview. And, no, no bet. I'm here and I'll continue to stay here as long as I like or until you go running to Daddy Dan to get me disbarred, and there's nothing you personally can do about it. For now, I'll be back here about once a month while I'm out trying to make sure the President loses his reelection bid, and I'll even PM you that day so that you can be here and prove what a tough guy you are.

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner after your first attempt to intimidate me. I had to go take a shower, which is usually what I have to do after having discourse with you, bud.

I was very shocked when I went out to eat with some latino friends that are HUGE supporters of Obama discussing how upset they are that Obama is deporting record numbers of illegials back to mexico, and the fact that it's pretty much unreported by the media. One was actually in Washington last week or so to hear him speak on the topic and was amazed that he was outright lying to them in regards to the topic of breaking up families by sending parents back while children remain here.

So while I"m not a fan of Obama, I do agree with what he is doing in the deporting illegials area. They are fans of Obama and hate that he claims not to be breaking up families and deporting people, but is doing so in record numbers. Oddly enough they are still committed to voting for him next time, even though this is an extremely passionate issue for them.

I have a master's in homeland security (yes, they give out degrees in that field nowadays ;-) and I'm not sure either side (Dems or 'Pubs) actually has a solid grasp of the intricacies of immigration (certainly, the 2008 DHS report on its five-year plan didn't seem like it did...go read up on Strategic Goal 1, if you think I'm joking). I'm not anti-immigration in the least. Hell, my last name's Guerra. Why would I be against immigration? But the "open borders" crowd is completely off the rails when it comes to this subject. I want as many folks as possible to come here, but legally and many need to have skill sets that can help us. New Zealand and Australia (I think) generally want those same things, so why are we evil when many of us advocate for that same position? Or for enforcing national borders?

You'd win a lot of cash laying it all down on me, partner. The last time Mikey got in a fight was back in the third grade (where he spent the best five years of his life) when little Timmy Hartwell (see if you can ID the movie from which I stole "Little Timmy Hartwell" ;-) took his lunch money from him and bee-yotch slapped him around a little, for good measure). And I always wondered why Chainpin and Mojo called him "Mopdick." Question answered!

Yeah, I hear he helped them celebrate "Cinco de Quatro," or something. ;-)

My brown brothers and sisters (well, a lot of them, at any rate) don't get what this guy's about, and too many of them are used to suckling the government teat nowadays. Sadly, many look to the government first and last to solve all of their "problems" and they'll vote for the guy who keeps the government leche flowing. Barack Obama -- with his foolish talk about "corporate jet owners" and "millionaires and billionaires" -- promises them that he'll do just that, and they're so dependent of the government for everything they'll need they're pretty much like the captive rabbits in "Watership Down" (I wasn't the first this week to use that analogy, I freely admit): As long as they get their three squares a day, they don't care that the government's going to shut off their healthcare when they hit 70 or something, even if they can afford it on their own.

Or that the government's going to tell them where they can live (certainly not in single-family homes, if many on the left get their way, but rather in multi-family high rises and such, because it uses less land that can be used by the Spotted Owl or some other non-human species) or what sort of Government Motors-approved electric car to buy. Pathetic, bud.

An once you-all put your little heads together and re-anoint The One I'll give you the first 34,000 reasons why he should be heading back to Hyde Park, come January 2013. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Big K you seemed to have lost it. Life long Republican here, Reagan fan, big time. Just voted Ron Paul in the Primary. If Rick or Mitt are what the Rep. put up I will be voting for the O. The devil I know is better than the Devil you don't.

All this Republican BS only further sets my mind that you all have lost it.

That's fine. It's your vote, after all, and you should vote for whomever you think will best represent the interests of the country for the next four years.

Ok, what would it take to convince you? He was the first President I got to vote for. I can take a picture of me with the Time Magazine cover that has Bill Clinton on it (the one where he has devils horns.. Still a classic)... Best qoute ever "My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes."

What else can I tell you. Let me look at my Reagan / Bush /Clinton files at work -- years ago I had an entire wall of stuff, but pulled it down a few years ago when we moved buildings. But I had some great cartoons up.

I can show you my Ron Paul 2008 sign.

You are a fan of a President who absolutely loved his country, but, are willing to vote for one who hates it? But for the fact that Ronald Reagan never cries, that would make him shed a tear.

btw, Reagan would have been eviscerated by people like you and bk, absolutely eviscerated and called a leftist. You guys really think the vitriol approach helps your cause.

He was torn apart by many but honestly the whole "Reagan would have been eviscerated " talking point is noting but drummed up crap by the left.

hmmm, who knows how Obama feels about America. We know he wanted to "fundamentally transform" the country. We also know he took a historically unique tact in foreign relations, one that I don't think has worked to our favor. Let me quote me from almost three years ago:

Re: Nice to see the US standing rising with our allies! NOT! [drake] [In reply to] Edit | Delete | Quote | Reply
As alluded to in the article, I think Obama is intentionally stepping away from or "traditional" allies, in an effort to build new alliances, with the hope of accomplishing some of the more difficult foreign policy issues. I doubt Obama truly has disdain for Israel, or Britain, and love for Hezbollah or Hamas; more likely wants to be considered a fair player in their arena. It's differeent, bold, and probably will ultimately be fruitless. I'm hoping for more, but will be satisfied with just "little damage" on the FP front as a result of his tenure.

If you really are as committed to making Obama lose as you say you are... don't you think the way you go off the deep end here is hurting your cause? How many moderate, undecided voters do you think are swayed by all this garbage? I really hope this isn't the way you talk politics when you're not hiding behind your computer screen.

you're wasting your time, dude. i've asked him the exact same question many times before, and it goes nowhere. seriously, if you want me to vote for you, explain your platform and tell me why it's the best way forward. if you just bang on about how 'the other guy' is stupid, and don't tell me anything about what you actually stand for (except beating the other guy), you're digging yourself a grave.

I believe Rodred is referring to Obama's election campaign with the "hello 2008" comment.

And you're right, I am wasting my time. Sometimes I just wonder what's rattling around in that head of his when he posts stuff like this.

Ha ha =) It's true.

You guys have to let me play. Our politics is just way too boring and (comparatively) civilized, aside from the current Robocalls fiasco, where it is alleged that our conservative party was responsible for automated calls to non-conservative voters in swing ridings on and immediately before election day saying that their polling stations were changed (which they weren't).

Long Chile was a silly place.

what's a Moran?

That's a running joke around here. I think, IIRC, that it started with a picture someone posted of a protester carrying a sign referring to his opponents as "MORANS." You can't do a search on the picture, of course, but if you search on the pseudo-word "moran" in the LR you'll find dozens of pages of posts.

Ah, yes, if we're going to use "moran" for "moron" then it also makes sense to use "breath" for "breathe." :)

Nope. Don't really care what he thinks about Unions. Voter demographics at least 10 yrs or more ago when I payed attention showed at least in the UAW close to half voted Republican.

I just have a hard time voting for Mitt, not sure what he is expect out of touch .. his wife just said she didn't consider herself wealthy.

And Rick .. well

A strong third party candidate would get my vote, but lacking one. I think I will vote O. Now if Mitt added Ron Paul as a VP I would consider him.
