A full Day off for mummy
hey Ladies,

My wife and I have a 6 month old (today is his half year birthday!!! :) ) and I want to do something awesome for my wife. She mentioned this morning that she was really tired and wished she could just sleep for a day. So what I want to do is give her a full day off. So the plan will be:

4pm on a Saturday I will surprise her with a packed bag and simply drive to a local hotel and drop her off. while she is there she will get a pampered day/night in the spa and a really nice dinner and breakfast the next morning.
Sunday: I want to arrange for something cool and unique for her for the afternoon (to allow her to sleep in as late as she wants). Does anyone have any ideas of something unique I could do for her? I want to get her out of the house for the full day though so

A. I don't have a chance to call her when it gets a little tough for me.
B. So she doesn't have a chance to not focus on herself and just be by herself. I think she may need the opportunity to miss the little tyke.

Any ideas?
Thanks!!!

What a nice gesture! You might want to ask her before you book the hotel... she might actually prefer to stay at home with her men... just not do any chores that day. In fact you pampering her might be more meaningful than some lady giving her a mani/pedi. She might not be ready for a night away, alone. It's pretty tough to get through that first night... also: is she breastfeeding? if so, she'll need to pump/express - and she might not be keen on that... oh and if you pamper her at home, you might get some boom-chicka-wah-wah action yourself... big guy... ;-)

I guess I'm just saying: ask her what she wants. You might be surprised.

lol...boom chicka...cripes, even I am too tired for that! ;)
Thanks for the suggestion. The reason I want to get her out is that we live in a smaller town outside a bigger city where we use to live. And I think she is starting to miss it. So I wanted to give her the opportunity to go to town and do whatever she wants. She is breast feeding and we have lots of frozen milk and fresh (she is actually pumping more since he is sleeping longer at night now). I think she needs to get out of the house for an extended time.
Thanks though!

st. jacobs' market and a show at the playhouse after? no idea what productions they're doing this year (or if chantel likes live theatre), but they do a nice job and have saturday matinees. the outlets have a good range of shops and some killer deals..

museum? there's the new waterloo regional museum by doon heritage crossroads, though i haven't checked it out to see what it's like. depending on when you're planning to do it, check tourism ontario for art tours, wine tastings or "taste of _________" events.

cheers!

Schedule an appointment with a personal shopper at one of your local department stores - this is a complimentary service at Nordstrom's, and maybe other stores as well. Also buy her a gift certificate to that store for her shopping excursion, that way she won't hesitate, feel guilty, on the amount of money she's spending.

You are a great man for planning this getaway for her !

You might want to ask a friend to go with her. A little "girl" time is always good too and the friend will distract her so she doesn't worry about what is going on at home.
