Help Wanted: Opportunities at Trek
Howdy all-

The primary intent of this post is to serve as a pointer to our careers page, located at http://jobs.jobvite.com/trek-bicycle/jobs, where at any given time you're likely to find an interesting mix of positions in engineering, IS, customer service, product development, brand management, accounting, manufacturing support, and even retail store management. There are international opportunities listed there too..

From time to time there will also be positions we're trying to fill which for whatever reason don't appear on that page, and I (or perhaps someone else) will try to update this post with whatever details I can.

As of this edit, one position that I don't think I've seen listed in the past is Product Compliance Engineer. If the position and requirements fit you I highly encourage you to apply.

A bump for some new openings on our careers page...link in previous post.

The Mech Engr intern position remains open for resumes, though some (not all) departments have filled their needs.

If only I had graduated Dec. '10 instead of Dec. '11, I would be very interested in that biomech engr position.

Hey Carl, I'm entering college this year, and I aspire to become an engineer for Trek. How would I make myself the best candidate for the engineering internship in 3-4 years? What degree would be the best fit for the job? Mechanical Engineering?
Thanks,

Mech Eng or Materials Eng with an emphasis on composites tend to be the better backgrounds for us.

Hey Carl - does Trek have an in-house legal department for IP, advertising and promotional agreements? If so, where is it located?

Not sure there's a single office/individual covering all those bases, but anything of the sort would be here at HQ in Waterloo WI.

Hello Carl,

I am currently a student in the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and I was wondering if Trek offered any internship positions. I have been doing triathlons for 3 seasons now and I am looking to get an internship in the cycling or triathlon industry for next summer.

Thanks,
Paul

Never a shortage of uses for interns :-)

Use the "submit a general application" link at our careers site and incorporate your internship interest in the cover letter.

I feel my qualifications meet the requirements set forth and look forward to meeting the company and answering any questions you may have.

Hi Carl,

I am a junior in mechanical engineering at Iowa State University and an avid cyclist. I saw the Mechanical Engineering Internship position you posted from last year and am interested if Trek is hiring for this or a similar position for next summer. I have previous Design Engineering experience from a six month internship that I did last spring/summer.

Thanks,

Hi Zach-

Best advice would be to submit a cover letter and resume via the general application link near the top of our careers page. Internships can open up at any time and are sometimes short-fused...so having yourself in the mix early is a good thing.

Hi Carl,

You guys need a pilot. I can get you there fast (2000 F-16 hours) and safely (current USAF Safety Analyst). I'd say something about helping with the competition (qual'd on 100's of Laser, GPS, TV, Radar, and IR guided air-to-air and air-to-surface weapons) but I think that might border on unsportsmanlike. I come with my own cool leather jacket and sunglasses.

Cheers,

Just wanted to bump this thread to call out a specific position that Trek is hiring for. The team that I am on, Ascend, is looking for a couple of .Net software engineers. In addition to a solid background in .Net, being passionate about cycling is definitely a plus. You can read about this opportunity on our careers website (http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/company/careers/), listed under Information Systems\Software Engineer / .NET Developer, or on Stack Overflow (http://careers.stackoverflow.com/...-bicycle-corporation).

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the position, and mention you saw this on SlowTwitch if you decide to apply

I am a junior in mechanical engineering with an emphasis in composites. How can I apply for an engineering internship for 2013 with Trek? I interviewed with Scott Nielson in the mountain bike group this past year and I want to do anything I can to get an internship with Trek for 2013.

Thanks

Hey Carl,

I'm currently a Sophomore in Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. I saw that there were positions open for a summer 2013 Trek internship a couple of weeks ago, and when I went to apply today, there was no longer a listing open. Is there anyway I could still apply?

I have already went ahead and sent an email to Casey Birschbach at the email provided.

Thanks,

Cajer

Hi Carl,

I'm currently a freshman majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology with a minor in mathematics. On all of Trek's job postings the qualifications say "Bachelor Science Mechanical Engineering". Just out of curiousity, do you think it would be possible to land a job/internship at Trek with a BSMET as opposed to the BSME?

Thanks for your time.

Carl,

My name is Ben Ross. I'm a graduating ME (May, 2013) and and avid cyclist. I have applied for a couple positions with Trek in the past (Intern, and most recently the Design Engineer - Wheels), but I wanted to ask someone directly about it. I haven't heard from anyone, and it's getting closer to crunch time for me! I love designing, specifically with SolidWorks. Other than keeping applying, is there anything else I should do?

Thank you,

Ben Ross

Hi Ben-

I don't have a whole lot of insight into the process beyond the application stage...until I'm in a room with an interviewee anyway. We're always trying to keep the application queue full for when openings become available (or approved to be filled)...so it's possible there has been no decision made on either position yet. Making sure we have current information is probably your best bet right now. Thanks for your interest!

Carl Matson,

I have a huge interest in your internship program for the Mechanical Design Engineer-Mountain Bikes. I have applied online for this position and would like to follow up on my application for this position. I am a junior in the Mechanical Engineering Technology Program at the University of Cincinnati College. If there is any way I can directly message you and or get in touch I would appreciate your time.

Hi Alex-

Our careers page is usually pretty up to date. I see a few intern positions there right now, though only one which might have elements suited to your current studies (the int'l trade and logistics intern). And there's nothing stopping you from submitting a general application via the link on the same page...who knows...Finance and/or Marketing may decide tomorrow/next week/next month that they need an intern and you'll already be in the system waiting for them.

Hi Carl,

I am an entry-level Mechanical Design engineer, with over a years worth of experience in product design and manufacturing, and I am interested in three of the engineering positions posted on the careers page: 1) B-cycle Design Engineer 2) CNC Machine Programmer and Operator 3) Mechanical Design Engineer - Mountain Bikes . I have applied to each of these positions within the last week but I wanted to follow up with my application to see if it has been processed yet. I left a message for Casey Birschbach in the HR department and have not heard back from him yet, am I better off contacting someone inside the engineering design department directly? Any help and/or insight on what measures can be taken to follow up on these applications would be great. Thanks!

Hi Adam-

As I'm not part of any of the groups which have the open positions you listed I don't know how they interact with Casey to receive and review applications nor what their timeline is (i.e. are they trying to fill quickly, or are they trying to queue up a bunch of applications in anticipation of openings due to people moving on, etc). Casey is the guy.
