My goals were to swim and ride 6x; I actually had 8 runs (73 miles) and 6 rides (10.5 hours). Did not get back in the water like I was supposed to. Also did rotten with eating, despite the goal of make-a-plan each day (might've helped if I made the plan).

Goals for this week - match last week's cycling hours; run 6x; SWIMMMMMM. Get the next 3 homeworks done for calculus (summer class!!! I'm such a geek :-). No sugar, as this seems to be correlated with anxiety.

The last two weeks have been difficult between a huge work project and then the news about Steve Larsen. I bailed on a couple of bike races and did a couple others. Wednesday I went up to Davis to do Steve's memorial ride and fund raiser and that helped.

Saturday was a bike race. Goal was to sit in the top 5 for as long as I could and not freak out. I can do this on the track, but in a crit, the skill levels aren't usually as high, so I am leery of other people. But, Saturday was good. I hung in for half of the race, then the slight hill and wind popped me off the back but I finished.

Yesterday was a day of racing at the track. Asthma issues in the first two races, but then in the 3rd race I got 5th and the last race I had solid tactics, so I'm happy with that.

For the month of June, it's a lot of racing on the velodrome--every Tuesday and Wednesday night. Plus a couple of other races on the weekends.

For this week: Race Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, so emphasis is on nutrition excellence and do everything to help with recovery. Yoga once and lift weights twice. Stretching!! More water daily!!

Goals for last week:
1) Recover from Triple T -- Guess I did that as I missed two workouts. One due to the hawks playoff game and the other cause I felt like shopping. The Hawks are now out of the playoffs (Detroit sucks) so training and sleep should now return to the original scheduled programming.
2) Carry the positive momentum into my summer training for IMWI-- Had a great ride on Saturday so that was nice.

Goals for this week:
1) Get my sorry self back on my training plan. No missed workouts.
2) Start cooking and refocusing nutrition

goals were: 4,000m swim incl. another open water session, 31+ km run, 60k bike, 2 weight lifting sessions

did 33.96km of running and 2 weight lifting sessions.

didn't get the swim volume i wanted (only 2,725m) but i did the full distance of my super sprint swim in open water yesterday, felt MUCH better in the water, and made it a swim/bike brick, which was great experience. besides, i think i deserved an easier swim week, as i'd done SO much last week.

purposely moved my friday night weight lifting to thursday (when it was supposed to rain) so i could take advantage of 18c and sunny on friday for a good solid bike workout. 20mins after we got home friday evening, it was pissing rain like i should have been building an ark. got pissed off, felt exhausted, and just decided that a rest day wouldn't be the end of the world - i'd get after the bike on the weekend.

with apocalyptic thunderstorms predicted for saturday early evening, i left the house for a 42k ride (puny, i know, but 12k longer than i've done so far this year, and almost 2x as long as my longest ride on my tri bike yet) in 30kph winds gusting to 40+kph, knowing my predicted return time was about 20mins before the storm was supposed to start. flew with the tailwind on the way out, dogged against the headwind, hills and a 10min rain shower on the way back. forgot to lubricate nethers - paid the price. last 10km were done on pure HTFU. definitely a valuable session.

sunday's plan was OWS, practice T1, ride 18km home from lake, then do short run. it was all of 14c out, with 40kph winds gusting to 50+. swim went well, T1 went pretty well, running with bike across gravel drivway out to road went well, mounting and facing headwind and hills again went...not so well. i managed 2 climbs, and found my darling husband waiting for me at the crest of the 2nd (bigger) hill - he'd felt the car being blown around something fierce, and pulled over just after he'd passed me (after packing up all my swim gear - what a guy!) to see if i wanted to bail out of the ride, or just to get some video of me going past and then follow me home. he's awesome! :) i took the bailout, as i was completely shagged with sore legs from the bike the day before. managed a pitiful 2.5km before canning it. HTFU nowhere to be found..

got home, pulled the bike out of the car, and did another 3k cycle around our neighbourhood before doing a run just slightly shorter than the super sprint one, at a decent pace for me. it's the closest i've come yet to putting it all together, so despite the break in the middle and only doing about 1/2 the distance of the super sprint bike, i'll take it! total was still only 47.5km of bike though :(

goals for this week: back up to 4,000m swim, ~35k of running, 2 weight lifting sessions, and more than 60k bike. do super sprint full distance OWS/full distance bike/full distance run to make sure i can really put it all together!

cheers!

Congratulations on the PB. And you are headed to Rev3 this weekend, right? I'm moving into my summer place, no tri (might drive north for a road race)

Last week:
Ride x3 (trainer at lunch - DONE; ride2work with hill climb - DONE; 2hr tempo - DONE)
Run x3 (aerobic 50' with strides - DONE; 1h15-1h30 negative split - Done but ended up being 1h40 hilly; 50'-1h10 with intervals - NOT DONE)
Swim x3 (2 masters and one OW - DONE).

This week:
Rest for Oliver 1/2im (Sunday).
Run x2 (40min max, with some strides and intervals, keep the legs feeling fresh)
Swim x3 (1-2 OW and 1 masters - sleep is more important now than getting up at 5am)
Ride x2 (one 1h30 easy with intervals; and one 1hr max day before race - keep the legs fresh)
Get lots of sleep. Eat well and not too much. Pray for cooler weather. Have a fun day at Oliver and try to keep a good pace through each leg.

Goals and results for last week:
Swim x2 - only one. stupid pool was closed last minute on the only second day I could do. :(
Run x3 - did it!
Bike x3 - only two bike rides. wind and rain made outside training almost impossible last week. oh to be living somewhere warm right now ...
Weights x2 - did it!

Goals for this week:
Swim x2
Run x2
Bike x1
Brick x1 (some back and forth between the bike and running is SOOO needed! gotta re-teach the legs how to run off the bike)
Weights x3 (not hardcore - just maintenance work)
First Tri Race! (Sprint Distance at Lakeside)

someplace warm - where are you located?

It's mid 60s here in Maine, wish it would stay like this all summer. Hotter than that, I do not like as much.

hey it's almost 90 here in Vancouver, Canada. Pretty unusual temps. Hoping it cools down for racing on Sun, but it has been nice for training...

rlmurrant is right - southern ontario has sucked lately! 14c for OWS/bike brick sunday..."small possibility of light shower" turned into torrential downpour friday evening...brutal thunderstorm saturday evening...rain last night, though it did have the decency to stop by 8pm or so, and i managed my LSD run without getting pissed on...possible shower tonight, so not sure if i'll cycle to the pool or not...rain again tomorrow!

cheers~

Are you kidding about the temperature in Vancouver? Damn, that's crazy. I'm coming up to Whistler June 12 and staying 2 months. I hope those temps drop by the time I get there. That's Texas temperatures! Okay, just throwing it out there....2nd annual Mt. Curry ride????

I am in Toronto, Ontario - yesterday was the warmest of the week so far and it only got up to 17C (about 62F). The temperature problem is made worse by the fact that when I wake up for the morning workouts it is all of 7C (about 45F) and by the time I get home from work for the evening workout it is back down to about 12C (about 53F). I know that I don't like it too hot - but my preference for training is to start the day at about 17C (62F) and warm up to 25C (77F).

The constant rain last week and weekend also put the damper on the training. :(

better days are supposed to be coming for us (i'm just down the 401 in KW)! friday and saturday are looking pretty spanky - hope the saturday forecast holds, as i've got a 400+km motorcycle ride that day!

last night wasn't too bad - did end up cycling to the pool, but put my shell jacket on to be on the safe side. at least the wind FINALLY died!

cheers!

I too am hoping for some great weather on Saturday - I am doing the Lakeside Tri (close to Stratford / London) and was really hoping that the lake would have a chance to warm up a bit. (Thankfully it is a small one so it won't be that cold.)
