Thyroid problems and skin pigmentation?
OK as I have now been on the synthroid for 7 months, as I spend more time outside (yes with 30-50 block on), I am noticing that my face is pigmenting in a weird way... if you draw a line down my cheeks from the middle of my eyes to my chin, the "inside" area (nose etc.) is pinkish, while the outside is quite brown. It looks very odd. Anyone else experience this? It seems the block doesn't make much difference. I can't always train at 4am either, so any suggestions are appreciated.

Thx,
AP

wear a hat.
no I have not seen this -
when I see weird skin pigmentation I think of lupus and discoid lupus (the latter is just of the skin)

Any chance you have bun in the oven? Don't some women get the "pigmentation mask" when pregnant?

Hey Andy,

You may want to google melasma. It's a skin condition related to hormones. Birth control can cause it, as can pregnancy. I get it down the sides of my cheeks (like sideburns - it's hot) and on my forehead. Kind of a mottled tan color. Sun exposure makes it worse. There are some bleaching agent lotions that can help, but supposedly any sun exposure negates the bleach. Anyway, a dermatologist might be able to help. I consider it just another badge of being active outdoors :) Good luck.

Thx for all the advice ladies. I'll have to keep an eye on it and talk to my GP about it. I may just have to live with it... ;-)

I've been on synthroid for 15 years and never had that issues. Just ask your doc. I do know some people have that issue on bc pills. Good luck.

i'd wager to say this is it. especially with BC and in the sun, or hormone changes and in the sun.
