Judy and Jayne and ... ??
I would love to know if Judy Molnar (Irongirl, You Don't Have to be Thin to Win) and Jayne Williams (Slow Fat Triathlete) and other women of like ilk are lurkers/posters on ST and whether they'd somehow identify themselves and maybe lend a hand in discussions for us BOP ladies. If it weren't for Judy, I'da never had the nerve to begin tris. And Jayne does post on BT and already knows how so many of us feel about her ability to inspire us to do this crazy thing.

So many ways to go ... maybe Amanda and Michellie and Sally Edwards and ... and ... the discussions could be limitless in a safe environment!!!

This is soooooo way cool!

I like the new user name!

Re: the original topic, I really hope that this forum brings some of those folks out of the woodwork. Given the "big names" that frequent the main forum, it wouldn't surprise me. The Danskin/Sally Edwards are responsible for getting me into this tri madness. There's no way I ever would have gotten over the intimidation of it otherwise.

I used to keep in touch with Judy and I think a friend still does. I'll have to ask her to ask Judy. Super great gal.

Jayne lives here in NorCal but I've never met her. If there are any lurkers down in Silicon Valley, maybe they know her?

I raced against Jayne at a sprint down here. She was doing a sort of book tour, and the book came up during pre-race pa chatter.

We started in the same wave, and somewhere around the second loop of the run course, I saw her coming up behind me on the out and back, and it was like 'better try to run because I don't want to get beat by a self-described slow girl'. Managed to stay something like two minutes ahead of her in what was a decent run split for me at the time.

Kate: I would love to see that, too. I'm an avowed BOPer -- my tag line these days is "content with mediocrity."

I accept that I will never be fast, nor do I have the desire to lose 20 lbs to go faster, kill myself in training more than 6-8 hrs a week, etc.

I know, anathema to a lot of folks in tri, but after every workout I sit back and give thanks that my body allows me to paticipate in these things, complete a marathon, albeit in 5 hours, swim, bike and run, even though it leaves me BOP.

I figure someone's gotta come in last, why not me? :) --
