Re: March Fish Thread [Dr. Tigerchik]
There’s a really cool set-up at the Mary T Meagher pool in Louisville. It’s 50m by 25m, wall-to-wall. 11 lanes across. For much of the year, there is a temporary “bulkhead” in the water that divides the pool. On one side is a 25y section (with deep water and blocks for college, HS, USA meets, and training). On the other is a 25m section (the difference in a 25y and 25m pool is almost exactly 7’). One section of this bulkhead was removed to allow for 5 x 50m lanes, and 6 x 25y and 25m lanes).

I think that if I had to means to build a pool, I’d do it like this one. No need to worry about it being flashy and world class for meets. Just a great place to train, for all levels of swimmers. I’d have the water a bit cooler in the main tank, probably 79-80. I’d have a smaller, 4-5 lane, 25y pool for instruction and warmer water. 11 lanes, each over 7’ wide (25m is 82 feet), a minimum depth of 4.5 feet, max depth of 13’, maybe diving boards so I can rent space to HS swim teams, good blocks.

I got to swim long course this morning.
