Course Info: The Rumpass in Bumpass is a 2 day triathlon festival at the Lake Anna Beach and Marina on the southeastern corner of Lake Anna where the "hot" side of the lake enters into the cold side. The first open water swim of the VTS is at the same site as the Giant Acorn Triathlon and is a great place for early and late season events as the water is 4-6 degrees warmer than the upper parts of Lake Anna. A beatiful venue awaits you as do skills clinics, a first rate post race expo and festival. Bring your family and friends for a great day of racing and let the Rumpass in Bumpass begin!
More: Swim Course: The 1500 meter swim begins with an in water start with the course going around the transition area and the finish line. Your friends and loved ones can walk around the race site and never be more than 250 yards from you as you make the 3 right hand turns that make up the course. This section of Lake Anna is unique in that the water coming into this section is used to cool the power plant and is a good 4-6 degrees warmer than the rest of the lake. We expect the water temperature to be somewhere in the 60's so it will be a bit cool for the start of the race.
Bike Course: The bike course is 2 loops of the sprint course for 40K. With a right turn out of the marina the bike is all on fresh pavement and is mostly flat with some rolling sections. The best sections are when you race across the causeways with water on either side of you.
Run Course: The run is the same as the sprint course, just longer. It's a simple, fast out and back course along the rural roads of Louisa County. Be sure to mark this one on your calendar as a must do event for 2009.
