| Fantastic Race! Reviewed by: ReidDuff on April 8, 2009 6:52 AM
Wow, my first triathlon and what a great event it was. Very well laid out, very well organized and well run. Expo was great too, me and my friend both won free K-Swiss running shoes at the expo. Swimming in SoBe is awesome clear water, and the bike course was extremely well secured. I got a sweet AG medal for finishing 3rd, only bc my AG was surprisingly slow. I met lots of really nice professionals, very kind people down there. I was in the first wave of starts, so there was no crowding for me on the bike, but there were massive packs I saw in the return direction. Someone had the bright idea to let a huge road bike ride cross the street right in front of me which very nearly could have been a disaster. There was no aide station on the bike, which shouldn't have been a problem except i dropped my only bottle 2mi into the ride. I could really do without the South Beach scene, if I do the race again I'll try and find a quiet place nearby to stay. That and 50% of the drivers on I95 have a serious death wish down there. Be carefull on I95. |
