I'm ready to pull the trigger on my first bike purchase. I don't know much about manufacturers. Can anyone tell me if this is a good deal?

Do a search on the roadbikereview forums. There's been a few threads about bikesdirect. Generally, positive experience, if you're willing to deal with a company with basically no face to it (they don't even give out a phone number!). They have been known to spam the roadbikereview forum in the past posing as forum members and passing on rave reviews of their bikes.

I bought my first road bike from here. If you have a low price point, these are great bikes. I was a little leary buying from them and asked many questions via email. They were very responsive and I received my bike with no problems. Can't beat that price and those components. The frames are seemingly durable (~2000 mi on mine), but I think you get what you pay for there. I bought a Windsor, but I'm pretty sure all these come from the same production line.
