Help with new crankset!
I currently have a shimano 105 5700 drivetrain on my tri bike (Dura ace shifters) except my crankset is the stock FSA. I just bought a stages powermeter 105 5800 however so I am swapping my crankset to match.

Would the shimano 5800 11 speed crankset work with the 5700 drivetrain? If so then do I use an 11 or 10 speed chain?
or
Is the 5700 crankset the only compatible option?

11-speed rings work fine on 10-speed drivetrains. So everything you have will work just fine. If you get a bigger or smaller chainring, you'll have to move the FD up or down.

Ok great. So then do I stick with a 10 speed chain?

In general, the cassette speed should dictate the chain, not the crankset.

In this case, there are a number of people running 11 speed chains on 10 speed cassettes because the slightly narrower chain makes for a quieter setup.

Ok so Im good with the 5800 11sp crankset with the 10 speed drivetrain. The chain can be either 10 or 11 speed. Anyone else have experience using an 11 speed chain with a 10 speed cassette?
