SC7.5 in a stand - How?
I've had a Trek SC7.5 for a couple of years, and at some point I read that you shouldn't really clamp it in a bike stand. Maybe that's crap, but I've never done it and have grumbled about it ever since. Nevertheless, I like putting bikes on a stand for stripping, cleaning, whatnot. What do others do? Apply as little pressure as possible? Some sort of adapter? Different stand? For what it's worth, this is the stand I use at home:

Cheers!

Wrap the seatpost in a towel and clamp lightly. I figure if it can handle being clamped by the frame it can handle being clamped very very lightly by the stand. you can also leave the clamp open a little (so it isnt actually clamped but the seatpost cant fit out) and then just rest the bottom of the seat on the clamp. works pretty well unless you are really cranking on something.

I'm sure Carl will be around with part numbers and more specifics, but Bontrager makes a repair stand adapter for the speed concept and madone.

I had same dilemma a when I bought my tri bike. Ended up selling my stand and bought one of these: https://www.feedbacksports.com/shop/sprint-work-stand/

So much easier to work on bike with it. Worth the investment if you like to wrench on your bikes. Don't know how I ever used the other style stand after using this one.

+1. I have the Park version of this. Definitely worth it if you work on your own bikes.

Thanks for the tip. I got myself one a couple of weeks ago, and after working with it... It's great! Does everything I want.

Cheers!

Glad it's working out for you! I also like that it's pretty portable. So I usually throw it in the back of the car whenever I go to races as a "just in case."
