Hi and welcome.

Although I'm happy to welcome you to Slowtwitch, you will probably get a better response if you do some work on your own 1st.

Questions 1-4 can be answered easily through Google.

5 is more involved and will depend on the races you decide to do. If you are serious about triathlon consider buying Joe Friel's Triathlete's Training Bible. It's not a perfect book but it will answer many I your questions and guide you through the start of your training. He also has a book called My First Triathlon (or something like that) that might be a better 1st book but I'm not familiar with it.

6 unless you have a bit of experience with biking or running and are comfortable in the water then try off with a sprint. There are also duathlons if swimming is a problem.

7 not necessary but will be helpful and fun. Use them for advice but take it always with a grain of salt.

8 again, check google.

Good luck!

  1. What is triathlon?

Triathlon is the opposite of a savings account.
  1. What are the typical Triathlon distance?

sprint olympic long and full
  1. Who can participate?

Anyone with a credit card
  1. What kind of gear you need?

a bike and helmet
  1. What kind of traning you take?

From what I have seen you don't really need to train.
  1. Which race should I choose for my first race?

Also based on experience a lot of people start with a Full Ironman as their first race.
  1. Do we need join club?

Club membership is not required but if you want a race kit that isn't plain you may need to join a club
  1. What are the rules?

No one follows the rules so you don't need to waste time reviewing them.

My advice is to start simple. Don't get bogged down into the details of components, VO2 Max, disc wheels, aero helmets, interval training, cadence, power meters, heart rate, etc. etc. Get a bike, any bike. Get some running shoes. And then sign up for a sprint race near where you live. Give yourself 12 weeks or so to train (depending on what kind of shape you're currently in). You can find numerous training plans for beginners online. Pick one that looks good and start training with the goal of completing your first tri.

After that, if you want to get into it more, you can slowly start upgrading the bike and tweaking the training. But I wouldn't invest a ton of money at first until you're pretty sure you enjoy it. It becomes less of a hobby and more of a way of life for a lot of people. The links below helped me out a lot as I was first getting my feet wet (pun intended).

Good luck and maybe we'll see you out there.

I'd have to believe that if he actually is legit in the OP, there's a very good chance he doesn't know what pink means. Or purple, for that matter.

#9 is pretty tricky to answer. I'd have to say it depends on a number of factors.
