I'm thinking about upgrading my tri shoes to something lighter. Would this be beneficial? If so, what are some stiff lightweight shoes?

for cycling?
0 important.
pick based on comfort first, then make sure you can get them on fast in transition
then take a wild guess at which shoe might be more aero if there is a tie still

And for running -- a little but not very. Certainly not compared to comfortable. Comfortable is far more important than light in an IM marathon.

Nike Mayflys are super comfy for me and light shoes are a pretty substantive benefit when running.
But yeah I don't do IMs

Oh, whoops. somehow I thought we were talking about IM. yet even for Sprint, I usually aim for a little bit more cushioning then I would in an open running race. Currently I use the Nike streak LT (formerly Zoom Streak XC). But for Olympic, I use slightly more shoe, whereas I would stick with the LTs for running-only races up to 10 miles.
It's all individual, I guess. But certainly in the IM, aim for comfort first

It matters just as much as weight anywhere else in your bike setup.
Typically comfort trumps weight when looking at contact points on the bike (bars, saddle, shoes), but if you can get both it's a win win.

I was talking about cycling. And I am actually signed up to do Louisville IM. Thanks this helps!
