Mounting lights to aero road handlebars
More money (spent), more problems. On my old handlebar, i had space for my Garmin mount and a mount for a headlight (NiteRider Lumina). My new Zipp Vuka Sprint doesn't leave nearly enough space on the bar itself for mounting, which leaves me mounting to either the stem or my helmet. My stem is at -6 degrees, which means that the light would be directed above horizontal as opposed to slightly below horizontal as I would prefer. I could also do the helmet, but that seems to lead to problems of its own.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Only thing I can think of is to get a new light. I have a niterider minewt that attaches to the bars with an O ring, so it can mount to any bar with the correct size O ring.

I have this one that I use on my road bike and on the base bar of my tri bike that has a flat section

A bit janky (then again, lights on anything short of a trekking bike or an enduro MTB seem janky...) but try taking a helmet mount and a couple sections of a cut inner tube and put the helmet mount right in the middle of the wing section (wrap it a few times and then tie it off). Or zip ties, but that's too permanent. :)

The question of who is right and who is wrong has seemed to me always too small to be worth a moment's thought, while the question of what is right and what is wrong has seemed all-important.

The internal battery light and motion light mount up on aero bar extensions super easy.

The helmet mount that comes with the lights should also fit on and aero road bar no problem.

Discounting the aero part for when you ride with the light, you could use one of the BarFly type mount. Like this for light http://www.barflybike.com/...tb-mounts/universal/

They have options you could consider to get the Garmin angle above the stem the way you want it. KEdge also has similar options and a couple of stem cap computer mounts that work well too.

I've used several of these on my fatbike where space is limits by insulated pogies over the grips, brakes and shifters.

Good call on the Bar Fly universal, and coincidentally it's the one i ended up ordering after remembering seeing such out-in-front type mounts. I think i may go with a K-Edge as well to have my garmin closer to the stem and flush with the top of the bar and have the Bar Fly universal sit higher than the bar.

This light is a great one to mount on aerobars. Probably the best there is, since the mount can turn 90 degrees, allowing aero bar extensions or base bar mounting. Plus the strap is flexible rubber allowing mounting on different shape bars. They have a 800 lumen model out currently. Lastly it is super light around 113 grams.
