Starting bike intervals today...ease into it or jump in?
I'm stuck using a spin bike at the gym, and after reading a bunch of training threads I'm keeping things simple for now and just doing hard/easy based on RPE. Basically "best average" for the hard stuff.

Aiming for:

4 x (8:00 hard / 2:00 easy) << 1-2x weekly
15 x (1:00 hard / 1:00 easy) << 1x weekly

So today is 4x8. Should I aim for all 4 or start with only 1 or 2? Does this even matter or am I just thinking too much and just need to ride?

I have ~8 weeks of base behind me -- 4 weeks of xc skiing, 1 week of elliptical, and 3 weeks of cycling mostly at low intensity 1 hr per day.

You should be able to jump right in and go hard. But, I'd monitor my recovery. You may need to do an easy recovery day right after.

Yeah i'm planning to put one or two easy days in between each hard day.

Today went well, 4x8 is pretty tough, my hr was steady above 180 on the last two.
