Speed Concept Toolbox mod for a SHIV
Hi everyone,

At some stage some genius posted on this forum about his conversion of the Speedconcept toolbox for the SHIV. Can you (or anyone else with similar modifications) direct me to that post or comment with your suggestions below. The SHIV fuelcell is just not working for me.

Thanks

Hello Moredownunder,
I made that sometime ago.
Still works well and stays in place snug.

Hard to explain the cutting, bonding, filler, sanding & painting.
Here are some pics during the build to give you an idea.
Good luck.

Somebody really needs to get this bike in a tunnel with a rider on it. I'm really interested to see how this helps the Shiv's aerodynamics.

They were my older HED Blackdogs that I made fairings to cover the cables.

The fabricated covers look like this:

Soooo.... who do I make out the check to for the rear speed box?

Very very cool. I understand it might be a big undertaking to explain the entire modification process but would you be willing to share what type of materials were involved or where they can be sourced from?

Again, very good job.

Yap thats where i drew the inspiration from.the challenge was to figure how the cover would attach to the brakes.
The rear bottle attachment comes with the saddle.

Awesome ideas. Just picked up a speed box to attempt this. Quick questions.
Is the only attachment point of the speed box at the seat collar? Does it move at all?
I was thinking of trying to utilize the existing hole on the Seat tube(min insertion gauge) for running a thin string through which would then run up to the seat collar and out.
What material did you use on the box where it contacts the frame? Was thinking an old tube would work.

Thanks!

I use high impact plastic (thats what they call it here).
Ok to use the insertion indicator hole but it might tighten the seatpost space. The side panels keep the box in place.
Good luck!

Considering to make one also... Did you succeed in making the modifications? And how? Pictures and description would be a gift :-)

I have made a simple one that I have been running for 1,5 years.
Works good enough.
