I am headed to a Euro vacation this summer. and a few days will be spent in Italy. I have the basics of the trip planned out.. I need your help filling in the blanks!

FIXED Arrangments - Arriving into Munich on Aug 24th
Renting a car in Munich
Follow on plans are in Bled Slovenia

Driving to Italy for a two night stay..
Requirements of Italian local
1) Small town, with quaint shops and enough things to do to keep wifey buisy if she doesn't feel like riding
2) Bike rentals available
3) decent accomodations
4) Somewhere between Munich and Bled Slovenia
5) Access to some epic climbs (preferably climbs that I have seen in the Giro)

Staz.. I know you ride these roads occasionally.. Any advice? Any others?

This is the trip of a lifetime for me. I can't wait!

Any village in the Dolomites will do, althoug not directly on the Munich - Bled itinerary.

Bolzano is larger than a small town but a good place to stay and easy access from the A22 highway. Merano is also nice. Otherwise, the smaller villages like Ortisei, Corvara, La Villa, Brunico are all good choices

enjoy.

Does your rental company know you're driving in Italy. I vaguely remember there were rules regarding Italy when I rented from sixt in Munich. I might be making this up. Former eastern block, definately had rules.

Have fun.
