Seems like the type of advice that only really holds if you're training 30 hrs per week and are already lean to begin with. The last thing the average AGer needs is more calories.

This is spot on. It's always been super basic to eat well in an Ironman. And his three steps are all you need.

Dunno, the condescension, repetition, and grammar errors are all there (just fewer than usual). I'm guessing he got someone to proof it.
There is something me wisdom in his article. Mark Allen also found he raced better at IM at about 5lbs heavier than for Olys.

Seems the article was more intended for him to say "hah, see I told you that chocolate milk works and I said it in 1991!"
