been there, done that: welcome to the "official lava magazine sponsored count" :)

...and that means...what? We don't sponsor it, we organize it. We gather volunteers/industry veterans with keen eyes on the product, and work with Ironman to create a count that doesn't disrupt the flow of check-in. It's crude, but it's what we can do with the space we are permitted. Some brands get missed in the waves of athletes that come from time to time. That's just human error... but I feel confident we are damn close. I also feel confident in trusting the volunteers are delivering to us accurate (as they can best determine). As I see it, a group of people that care enough to sweat under the sun, beholden to one another, has only the interest of tracking trends and providing a benefit to the industry, and public here. And I'm grateful for those people, like Candice above.

So again, what is your inference, Andre? Love to have you come out and help count next year. Bring sunscreen and a hat.

jay,

first, let me state that you guys are doing a great job; lava magazine is an exciting publication that keeps the tri community connected all through the year.

my comment was a reference to a very specific year, 2010. our amphibian had been chosen by several top teams: abu dhabi, timex and aquasphere. they included a large number of amateurs and pros like rachel joyce, pete jacobs and faris al-sultan.
it was a honor for us and a statement of trust for our top gear. we were very excited.
when the count was published, Kiwami was completely obliterated.

the only ones I felt responsible for this missed opportunity was us: we should have been more proactive. lesson learned.
but the bottom line is, for some reasons including the ones you have mentioned, the published count was a misrepresentation. a correction was published in the following issue but we all know how few read corrections.

let me finish by mentioning that we at Kiwami are very grateful for all those who indeed spend hours in the sun doing the count and for lava mag. who publishes it. you all do a great service to the athletes and the industry.

Thought there would be more Scott bikes and less Ceepo's

Also suprised by zipp dominance

Didnt realize Look pedals were that popular.

Shimano destroying SRAM in the groupsets too, more than what i thought they would be

Ceepo has been very aggressive this year working with teams and individual athletes to raise their profile. They are a great company to work with, nice to see their effort paying off.

I second that! CEEPO has been so so good to me
