Thanks for the consistently amazing race reports. I thoroughly enjoy each of your posts. Your love of running shines through each and every time. Congrats to you on the wedding and being at the race!

Haha, thank you so much. It is a love/hate relationship with running. Generally my feelings depend on whether I am going up a steep hill. Downhill races would be my jam :)

You are great!

:) I think it was a combo of insane talent, a fair amount of doping, and a bad day for me. Generally, I think I am a mediocre climber. Next year would suit me way better. Also, I might start doing some crossfit to gain strength. I think that also means I need to listen to Nickleback for pump up music. Win some, lose some.

Thanks for being so amazing!

I've been following this, does Killian Jornet not compete? is he more ultra? though he won the vertical km in Cham followed by the marathon this year I think.

I also think I sat next to him having a coffee in the summer - but you don't want to be the idiot that goes "are you......" and they're not

On the stomach thing - did you go to a pharmacy? I don't think its common, but I think that people that travel all the time will find the experience far less stressful. My 9 month olds done 14 international long haul flights and it is almost always an experience of some sort or another......

Aw shucks! Can't read it now no time!

Saw a few pictures over on running.competitor.com a couple of days ago. The race like literally went through the quarries. Congrats on the wedding again and also on the race, you won right?

I will be back to read the report later.

Haha, you're great. I so did not win that it was pretty epic in its own right. But I learned way more about myself from that race than any of my wins.

If you read this in the future, let me know how the hoverboards are? And if we live in a world with high-waisted pants and OS systems that we can make sweet love to! Also, let me know if you've seen "Her." Because if not, that sentence is really creepy.

Read it and really enjoyed it. I have just two thoughts. 1. That's not how you eat a pizza! and 2. Don't do crossfit! You'll alienate your reader base and become like super bulky and stuff.

Andrew, the consensus from the athletes at the World Champs seemed to be that Kilian would get his doors blown off in these shorter mountain races. Even though it's up mostly, there are some fast road and trail sections where the front pack is running 4:20 pace. Another theory from a prominent athlete was that the drug testing (blood/urine/bio passport) is the reason, though I am skeptical about both reasons.

Thanks for the input on international travel! I would have gotten something at the pharmacy, but all the labels were in Italian, and I did not want to test positive :)

Anyone race with poles? They are popular in Europe, especially in Italy.

No poles! I think they are illegal in IAAF competition. Plus I imagine they'd be hard to carry during the fast stuff :)

UPDATE: After Italy, Megan and I made an impromptu decision on Friday to drive to Bend, Oregon for the USATF 50k Trail Champs. We had never run farther than 20 miles....

And, of course, Megan won by 11 minutes over Olympian Magda Boulet. I was 4th in 3:34. Ultras are not for me, but it was really fun :)

When I logged into ST this afternoon and saw a race report from you, I thought, this is a good way to start the afternoon. You always do a fantastic, entertaining way to write a race report! Photos are a plus.

Congrats to both of you at the worlds, just to say you were selected is amazing. Then the good results even better.

Congrats to both at the USATF 50k also!

You two are very inspiring!

Haha, I took out the first 7 miles in 39 min (somewhat technical trail, but nothing crazy). That was dumb.

In conclusion, Megan is good. I am dumb :)

You're awesome! I was so in awe of Megan. We both made the promise pre-50k: "Just don't die." That's what is needed when you are going 50% longer than ever before. Back to the shorter stuff for us! It was just hard to skip the race in Nike's backyard.

With all these amazing results, sponsorships, and general tomfoolery...the real question is whether you all have been informed by Duke University that they are putting up statues of you both? If that isn't in the cards, I do live near Duke and would be happy to poop alongside one of your favorite trails to pay homage (too much??)

Congrats to you both

Oh my gosh that would be great! I assume that many plants and shrubs have died from lack of nitrogen this year. Over our years on campus, my guess is they got addicted to the extra fertilizer :)

And yes, I pooped during the 50k. It took 10 seconds. Lifetime PR.

You're awesome!

Did you poop?

The day after we landed, I had lots of coffee and lost at least 10 pounds. It was glorious. Rankings:

1. Marriage day
2. Engagement
3. The poopacalypse
......
1,000,000. Every other day.

Also, I did poop during the 50k. No time for wiping though.
