hey all - i'm the race director for the wilderman - it ended up being everything we hoped it would be and we're excited to give it a go again next year with the addition of a half iron distance. there are a couple of race reports and results on the web-page now (scroll to the bottom). (

as for the run - it is bad ass and difficult. about half the distance is on double track or gravel, but the rest is in rugged country on very narrow singletrack like trails or creek bottom. It is all 'runnable' but after the bike (which isn't anything to sneeze at) sections of it can feel pretty daunting. Next year we're planning the start at 6 am instead of 8 (for the full) to give 2 more hours of daylight on the run which will help quite a bit.
top runners completed the first 10 miles of the run (which included about 7 miles of super hilly, technical running and/or creek bottom) in about 2 hours.
no black shirts - white shirts for finishers though. maybe tattoos at the finish line next year if there is enough interest.
cheers - andy
