I'm a canuck so I'll be turkey-free... gobble gobble!

However, I am returning from a biz trip from NJ on Thurs so my legs might be in "interesting" shape.... I'm trying to treat it like a forced taper in compression stockings. :-)

Even though my planned marathon is January 26th, since it's in Yuma, AZ and the temp will be 65-70F, I'm considering it a "fall" activity. Heck, in Arizona, we have Summer and "not" Summer - those are our seasons.

Since I'm still training for the 111 mile Tour de Tucson in two weeks, training has been a bunch of biking, a swim per week and 3 runs per week with weekly mileage around 15 miles or so. I haven't run a full mary since St. George in 2003 so I'm looking forward to this one. Since I'm stubborn and don't want to loose my base of swimming and biking (St. George 70.3 is 12 weeks after Yuma) I'll still be biking and swimming and working on a mixture of (1) medium run, (1) speedwork run and one buildup run (starting at 12 and working my way to 18ish) each week, not including some short recovery runs. Should be interesting. It all starts on Nov 19th (tour is on the 17th). The challenge will be keeping up the training not only on my off season, but also during the holidays with a wicked crazy schedule.

Yuma marathon is a small event - probably 300 runners if even. It's a very flat out and back course. Shooting for sub 4 - not fast for some, but I've never been fast.

I'm in for the Houston Marathon this year. Was hoping when I signed up last year it might be a prelude to IM TX, but not this time. Doing the 1/2 mary in Dallas as a tune up. Aiming for a modest goal of sub 4 hour as it will be my 2nd full. Actually doing proper training this time and it feels great so far!

Also did Manchester in place of NYC. Got a BQ -5 on a hilly course, but really wanted a sub 3:00 time. I probably pushed too hard in the first half to keep on sub 3:00 pace, but it wasn't the course for a real fast time.

Checking back in. Just did Philly. Hung with the 3:05 pacer for as long as I could. Finished a little shy of 3:06 for a PR and BQ. Not too bad for 10 weeks of run specific training (not including taper period). Pretty good running weather. More running downhill than I expected. The quads and hamstring told me how much downhill it was at around mile 23 :)

============================================
My marathon PR is "under three, high twos. I had a two hour and fifty-something."

The New Specialized Wind Tunnel
Will this be a game changer for Specialized, in both sales and product design, or will it not move the sales and design needle versus those in Specialized's competitive set?
Yes, Game Changer
Minor move forward
Won't budge the needle
