@Mike, the drive to Lake Placid is 21 miles total (5 from Keene Valley to Keene, and 16 up the hill to Lake Placid). So just enough time to drink your coffee, see the hill you'll be coming down in about 2 1/2 hours, and think things through. As you roll past the ski jumps, there's a Y in the road. You'll take a left at the Y up Military Road and swing behind town instead of heading into the chaos. Past the Elementary School (yes, you can park there and yes, there will be buses staged there and yes, it's tempting, but don't park there). Keep going. Take a right on Mill Pond Drive, go past the Fire Station and make sure you stop at the stop sign at the corner of Mill Pond and West Valley Road. It's a large intersection so make sure some knucklehead doesn't blow through the sign on the other side. Take a left up West Valley Road. Very soon you'll see a large parking lot on your left and people walking from that parking lot back down the road and up the hill (which is Cummings Road). This parking lot is just over the hill from the Olympic hockey rinks and the transition area. Avoid the temptation to walk yourself up the hill. It's steep and there are a lot of vehicles. Wait for the bus, they'll be along. Take a short bus ride to the parking lot/turn around area behind the hockey rinks. You're about 100 meters from transition. Take your transition bags and walk on down the hill to Main Street, take a right and enter the oval on the east side. Do not make the mistake and take the concrete stairs between the High School and oval; you'll be blocked and have a hard time getting into transition. Go around the east side.

Now, after the race, go get food first. Don't go get your bike or they won't let you back into the food area. The pizza is OK, so get something to eat. Then, and only then, exit the east end of the food area to get your bags and your bike. After you get all your stuff, you'll exit about the middle of the oval on Main Street and take a left to get to Cummings Road and back to the parking lot. Not a bad walk and better than waiting for the bus (no bikes) and almost all downhill. Just Google it and it will make sense.

Thanks Steve, who needs google when I have you!
