Can you outline what tweaks were done for your fit? By looking at your pictures (before and after), it looks like he just raised your seat a bit and had you sit more forward on your seat. The lines on the wall show a nice change with before and after. Interesting you gained 25 watts with that fit. That's a bunch. I actually lose power when I get too horizontal on the bike. Feels like I lose some leverage and it more than offsets aero gain.

Prior to the fit i had a good deal of lower neck/between shoulder blade tightness that would leave to cramping over a long ride. We went to a shorter stem as well as repositioning my bars more horizontal and this relieved a lot of my neck issues. We moved the seat up and forward a good bit. The biggest help to me felt like changing the seat tilt which took a good deal of pressure off and I was able to sit more comfortably. While we were doing all of this he was keeping track of my pedal stroke and would work to make my major leg muscles fire closer to the 1 o'clock position as opposed to where before I was dragging quite a bit on the upstroke and using my muscles right above my knee caps to get most of my power on the downstroke (using the muscles akin to how it feels when you are climbing a hill and your legs burn). I can say that now it feels more fluid when I pedal and my legs track more naturally without my right knee bowing inward toward the top tube like before. I can only really describe the way it feels to walk around with small weights around your ankles for an hour or more and then take them off and you feel light on your feet and everything is easy b/c your body never knew it was doing it wrong in the first place.

You've never noticed those aid stations every 10 miles?
Sure have, and they're good for taking on water and gels, but they never seem to have the Infinite that I use, so I travel with some double concentrate to get me through the day. This plan has worked well, and I do start with a couple bottles on the back.
Yes, I'd rather avoid the extra weight for the first hour or so, but let's be real.
Those things right behind me aren't slowing me down via drag
.
You might want to revisit that thought.

Right, and we all know how important it is to look good during a bike ride, than it is to be properly fueled.

Take a look at the pro's, one bottle or two, why are you carrying so much fluid, the aid stations in races are there to provide fluid and carbs, when i go training on my own, I have a dedicated fuel biddon which only contains gatorade in powder form, so I can mix up more when I find a place to get more water.

In training I usually start with a bottle of Infinite in my aerodrink and two full bottles in my Hydrotail Blaze at the back (which also nicely holds my CO2 and tubes). I too will also carry in powder form enough for two additional bottles of Infinite which I will mix up with water at a gas station of convenience store. I find using Infinite, I really don't need any gels, but will occasionally put a few in my Dark Speed works bento box just to mix it up a bit. In training, I'm not really that concerned with how much weight I'm carrying, or drag I'm creating, since it's training.
Onto a race, and like I said, I use Infinite. I would love to not use the cages at the back, but how else am I going to carry enough nutrition for 5 hrs of bike riding without stopping. Basically, my plan that I've used in the past is a normal concentrate in my aero drink from the start and two double concentrates in my blaze at the back. It stays like this for about an hour until my aerodrink is empty and I will refill with a double concentrate from the back, chuck the bottle at an aid station and start supplementing with water from the aid stations. 3 hrs in, the 2nd double concentrate goes up front and I lose the bottle (now no bottles in the back for drag), and I continue to supplement with water from aid stations.
In a race, I will also grab some gels at the aid stations and take one when I feel like it, but with the Infinite, I know I don't really need them much. In addition, I've usually dissolved a bit of salt into my bottles just to be on the safe side.
If anyone here uses Infinite and has a better fueling strategy, I'd be more than happy to hear about it.

Congrats on the fit sounds like you and John got it right. If I were ever going to pay for a fit John is one of the few I wouldn't hesitate to pay. 30 watts is like one heck of a year of training progress...to pick that up in one day = as you said WIN.

What happens when you eject a bottle from one of your rear cages during a race?

As a followup I did a 53 mile ride today and set another new PR and got 3 more KOM's. I was 5:41 seconds faster total than my previous best and that is with slowing down to chat with another rider along the way. And yes I rode with my rear bottle holder and had plenty of water on hand lol. When did this thread spiral down from a bike fit to aero hydration anyways. You guys are a tough crowd.

It doesn't happen. Never has, and I'm sure it never will when you use the right cages.
