Do I really need to explain?
The Democrats who vote to not repeal are now on the record for voting for the largest tax increase in human history. And this bit o' congressional record might matter in one of the 400+ representative elections in November. Politics.
The GOP has passed a jobs bill in the House. And a budget. But ol' Dingy Harry would not allow either to reach the floor of the Senate. Who is the obstuctionist?
Barack's jobs bill failed 400-something to nothing. Not even one Democrat voted for it.
Don't confuse him further with facts. No way he can handle it.

That 55% estate taxes is the one I find ridiculous. I've already paid income taxes on this money, and having worked and saved all my life they want to take 55% This is classism at its worst. How shameful of the government to basically steal my money that I have saved for my children and grand children.
As for the other rates, I'd be willing to pay them after the government goes on a big cost cutting spree. But raise my taxes at the same time you are constently adding to programs.
Well if you got a million dollar estate, spend it before you die and you won't have to worry about an estate tax, and you will stimulate the economy, sounds like a good plan. Might as well spend it instead of giving it to the government.

It is that kind of spending philosophy that has people in over the heads in debt. Most people in the US live pay check to paycheck.
There is no justification for estate taxes other than envy and the govenment wanting to choose winners and losers. Most people never make the effort to save so average estates at death are very small. That is no reason to tax the responsible.
We are normal middle class with 2 good jobs and have saved 2+ million in assets. Most people with good jobs could do this, but they chose not to. Hopefully if we can stay gainfully employed we will have 5+ million by the time we retire. But the way the economy is going, maybe our estate will be worth less than it is now. Why should we spend our retirement money on frivlous stuff to avoide an unfair tax. and how can the government justify taking such huge estate taxes. You can say we should donate a huge chunk to charity, but we already give 12% of our gross income every year so I'm not inclined to give more.
Estate taxes are evil. They should charge you a penalty if you don't have an estate to pass on to your children.

Or you could invest that money into some social benefit program that shields your money or some other lawfully approved shelter to not pay those taxes.

True, my BIL is an estate attorney, so we will definetly do whatever is legal to pay less estate taxes, but having them set at zero is a lot less complicated and avoids a lot of work to avoid taxes. Bringing the estate tax back does help lawers stay fully employed.

The New Specialized Wind Tunnel
Will this be a game changer for Specialized, in both sales and product design, or will it not move the sales and design needle versus those in Specialized's competitive set?
