I'd be more worried about keeping an eye out for him pacing her. Also our most recent set of course cutters will be there as well.

It's tougher when you have to run the whole course, huh?

How often do you guys notice outsiders pacing someone for the run? Do you say anything to them? Or just let it be?

I was on the back half of the eagleman run (probably mile 9) where I saw mid 20s girl and guy running together. They were on the front half going the other way when we passed by each other. The guy was definitely in the race (race kit, body marked, race belt). The girl was wearing running shorts and a solid color shirt(no tank top). She did not look like she was in the race in anyway shape or form. She didn't have a race belt or body marking. I smiled and chuckled to myself and went on my way.

This was my first WTC race and 70.3. Does this happen more often than not? Do you say something to them?

Do you say something to them?

Yeah! Every person you catch, especially if you're in my age group.

I notice it and when I do, I make comments.

But, to have someone doctor up a race bib is so far past the normal rule braking that this is in a league of its own.

Completely agree. Just wanted to see what others had done when they notice these happenings.

I would say something. Pacing is such a huge help on the run. My last race I had a friend come by on his bike while I was running. I told him to not stick around since that was obvious pacing but just the few seconds he was there was a big boost. The exact reason a lot of the big ultra races allow pacers for the runners.

For the record - RFK has been a bandit racer for over a decade. He's well know in the CT and tri-state area -the "King of Bandits".
