Can somebody explain in cases involving multiple victims why they lump all the charges into one trial? It's like putting all your eggs in one basket. If one juror spoils it, wouldn't it have been wiser to hold as many trials as there are victims, so that eventually you're gonna get a sane jury?

Jerry Sandusky's lead defense attorney told reporters Friday that "he would probably die of a heart attack" if his client is acquitted on all 48 counts of sex abuse of young boys.
"You're never happy with the job you've done," the lawyer, Joseph Amendola, said. "But I did the best I could considering the circumstances. This was a daunting case."
His impromptu comments came at the end of the second day of deliberations in the explosive case, in which Sandusky is charged with 48 counts of abuse of 10 boys during a 15-year stretch. Sandusky has maintained that he is innocent.

It's going to be interesting to see how much PSU is involved in the civil cases. They could end up paying out a LOT of money if things get ugly.

cool now America can pay for this fucker to rot in prison for 442 years or death, whichever comes first....instead of just offing him tomorrow. Hell I'd pay for the bullets and do it myself. He doesn't deserve a shower, a meal, or the light of day.

How did Sandusky manage to commit this horrible crime for so long? Well, I think many people would say that he was able to hide behind all the good things he did visibly in public. The Second Mile for example made people think he had a heart of gold. Children did not think anyone would believe their story because of who Sandusky was. Well, there is another man that comes to mind that is being accused of a crime that many people think he could not possibly have committed because of his good nature and his charitable contributions. People have come forward against this man, but their story is not believed because of their "credibility". There is always some kind of conspiracy involved in the accusations and the man in question holds everything good he has done hostage. Maybe he is innocent, but the parallel exists. Many of us are good people, we volunteer and do good things for others, yet we often do things others would never imagine. Maybe we secretly cheat on our taxes or drink and drive on our way home from work. Maybe we have a few marijuana plants growing in the bushes near our homes or maybe we are having an affair with the school librarian. Is it possible that we try to cover up the bad things we do with good things? I don't know.

Hopefully they put him into gen pop and real justice will be served when he gets raped repeatedly and then shanked when he's a crying mess.
The fact his wife claimed that she "never heard anything" and claimed to have no idea anything was going on when it happened in her own home is also disgusting.

I heard Jerry Sandusky just changed his name to Lincoln Tunnel in anticipation of what his poop chute will look like after 3 weeks in prison.

Prep the appeal:
(Reuters) - Lawyers for Jerry Sandusky sought a mistrial before his conviction for child sex abuse on the grounds that prosecutors showed jurors an inaccurate version of a bombshell NBC News interview with the former football coach, and the mistake may now form part of the basis for an appeal.
In response to a subpoena, NBC News turned over three versions of Bob Costas' NBC News interview with Sandusky, which aired last November on different NBC shows.
One of those versions, which was broadcast on the 'Today' show, contained an erroneous repetition of a key question and answer - about whether Sandusky was sexually attracted to young boys, Nils Frederiksen, a spokesman for the Pennsylvania attorney general said on Sunday.
The repetition, Sandusky's lawyers contend, made it appear to jurors that he was stonewalling.
"It wasn't noticed by (NBC News), it wasn't noticed by us, but it became obvious when it played in court," Frederiksen told Reuters.

In addition to cost it also helps prop up weak cases if the prosecution throws up enough shit, some of it will stick. On the other hand, multiple trials also favor the government as the defendant is forced to show his hand while the government throws unlimited resources at him.

That, and how much you want to bet that in the upcoming weeks we hear of a juror or two who admits to hearing the story of how the step-son would have testified against him?

Sandusky's son and the audio interview with police. I just don't know what to think about this. He says no abuse, no abuse, no abuse but then as soon as trial starts, he admits abuse. But he can't recall whether there was ever oral or anal penetration? I don't get that. I am fortunate to not have been abused as a child so I can't say what I would or would not remember, but his lack of recall to me seems questionable. Again, I am not an expert or even enlightened, but it makes a radar go off.
Poor kid if true, but something just doesn't seem right.
