I'm going to look at these Monday when I get home and not having bought a Zipp product in almost 20 years I have no idea how to tell. Supposedly they are 2008 404's.
What do I need to look for since they have no decals.....thanks for the edUmacTionS ST.

When you go check them out, look to see if there is a small sticker under the clearcoat with the serial number and a bar code. Even if the stickers are removed, the serial number can't be (without damaging the wheel, obviously).

Perfect! That sounds like a gold standard litmus right there. Is it tiny and I need to hunt hard for it? Just under rim bed?
Thanks man that was what I was looking for.....a 'you can't fake this one' kind of spec.

They should also say Handmade in Speedway Indiana in the Carbon (not a sticker). You might also see the Zipp logo in the carbon.

$700 with tubes/tires/cassette
Told him I only wanted the hoops and have not heard back.
Good? So so? Pass?
I'm totally out of the loop with race wheel values.

are they clichers or tubular? Did he mention how many miles are on them? Have they been in a crash? Are the bearings ceramic or steel or have they ever been replaced? Do the rims have any digs or pits? Are they true? All questions you could ask of the seller, they should know. All can change the value.

Just because a wheel has decals doesn't mean it is authentic. Actually it is probably better off that the wheels don't have decals as the Zipp wheels are serialized under the decals. If you are really concerned you can get the serial number off the wheel and call Zipp but those look very legit. In addition those are Zipp hubs or at least the front is.

Zipp are the only co. making dimpled rims, so if they are dimpled they must be Zipps (the rims at least). All 700c Zipps made from around 2004 onwards were dimpled, so if they are not dimpled they cannot be Zipps (unless they were made prior to 2004).
