Wisconsinites turning down beer? Now I know the place has gone to hell.

Now, he's [Walker] angered the Women's Christian Temperance Union with his plan to serve beer at the Tuesday cookout designed to help bring Republicans and Democrats together. The WCTU successfully lobbied for Prohibition, which made selling alcohol illegal from about 1920 to the early 1930s, and its 5,000 members continue to spread its anti-drinking message nationwide.

"I don't think it's cool at all," said Rita Wert, president of the WCTU. "It sets a very poor example."

The cookout menu features brats, a local sausage whose name is pronounced "brahts," and beer produced by a number of Wisconsin companies. Root beer from Milwaukee-area brewer Sprecher, which made a special label saying "Moving Wisconsin Forward," also will be served.

Walker pitched the event as a laid-back way to heal political wounds, find common ground and encourage political opponents to work together. Ninety-eight lawmakers, including 37 Democrats, 60 Republicans and one independent, along with about 240 staff members plan to attend the two-hour cookout Tuesday afternoon.

Thirty-four lawmakers have declined the invitation, with at least four publically stating their displeasure with the idea. But their reasons were all tied to politics, not abstinence.

I'll tell you what's not cool - the idea that someone doesn't know what a bratwurst is, thinks it's "local" to Wisconsin, and has no clue that it's abbreviated "brat."

Who the hell are they? And didn't they learn their lesson from the chaos and mayhem that prohibition brought? Talk about a group of unimportant people to piss off.

What is the WCTU going to do? Find a Dem that will support their point of view?

They'll get over it. At the end of the date they have more in common with Walker than they would with a Democratic party candidate.

Because they're idiots?

Rita Wert, President of the WCTU, is not from Wisconsin. She is a FIB, like YaHey. She is from Evanston, IL. I believe she is YaHey's former lover. She left him when he was no longer able to satisfy her.

Remember, this organization, with a whopping national membership of 5,000, was instrumental in the passing of prohibition.

Might be true. I don't favor radical groups like the WCTU. But they have a right to exist.

The point being that Walker is not really in trouble.
They will forget about this in 13 days.

So Walker would lose a couple hundred votes from the members that are able to vote in the state of Wisco. Not a big deal.

Is Obama attending the cookout with his purple crayon? It cannot be a true uniting party of Dems and Pubs without the Great Uniter.

That's based upon a misquote. What he really said is that Michelle thinks he has a Great Unit.

I wonder what Basil Heyden would have to say about this? In fact, I think I'll ask, right now.

I don't think so. He is a very busy man. Word has it that he is already attending cookouts in Minnesota and Illinois.

My man YaHey is relentless!!

No matter how bad Obama sucks, YaHey will try to find something good. That is a very admirable trait. And, YaHey takes more abuse than anyone around here but he keeps on talking shit like nothing ever happened. I wish I had that much composure.

This is not to say that YaHey is not a complete fool, because he is......only that the strength of his conviction is incredibly impressive. Apart from his entertainment value in the LR, we could all learn from YaHey something about mental fortitude.

I just Pray that Mr. YaHey is graceful enough to admit defeat and to admit he was wrong about all of his bullshit pro-obama posts on November 7.

If it were not for mofo's like YaHey I would not be nearly as good at bitch slapping liberals as I am today.
