I have the old version of Sport tracks freeware (2.0) and I was curious to know if that version could download from the Garmin 310xt? Currently I have a Garmin 305 which works fine but it is pretty old and I may upgrade to the 310xt.

Yes, the 310xt does work with sporttracks 2.0.
Are you sure? I have a 305. The file extension of 310X is different. And the sporttracks 2.0 dont recognize.
As far as know, reading in the sporttrack´s forum, The plugin to do it is only compatible with paid version.
The 310xt doesn't appear on the list of garmin devices on sporttracks 2.0, but it you select the 405 it downloads all the data just fine. I'm not sure about power since I don't have a power meter, but HR, cadence, elevation, speed, etc. all work.
