You can't do three Ironman distances in three weeks. That is just crazy talk.

You know what, why not? Shit, if I could afford it financially or physically, I would. Why not, you only live once and to do this and pull all three off, you'd have some serious bones in the game.

This year there is the 20 x Iron in 20 days...

Last year it was 20x the distance straight and in 2009 it was 10 x iron in 10 days(both won by Ferenc Szonyi)

These guys do Ironmans or longer on consecutive weekends for training..

well, what about Luis Alvarez? doesnt he hold the record for having done every single Ironman? He also never misses Placid from what I understand, so that would be an IMLP, IMUS, IMMT triple. Not in a row, but in a month.

Almost every year since 1999. Not always three weekends in a row, sometimes there is a weekend off in the middle. ;-)
Last year he did four, including Wisconsin, Kona, GFT and IM Florida. He does not cruise them with either. AG1 in Wi, AG1 in Kona, 2nd OA at GFT and AG2nd in IMFL.
He is certifiably crazy though.

Do it! If your body can handle it and you have the money. Why not? The question is though, are you doing it to say you did? Or are you doing it for time? If it is just to finish, rock on. If it is for time, I am guessing by third Ironman your body will protest.

Crazy, maybe. An inspiration to us old guys, absolutely. I have spoken to Joe a few times after IM Lake Placid races. True class guy and a real ambassador to the sport.

I would if I could afford to! Joe Bonness is my hero and when I first read about him doing multiple back-to-backs, I thought, if I can ever afford to do that someday, I will.
Do it so I can live vicariously through you! Post RRs on Slowtwitch though!

Doing back to back Ironman's (Mount Tremblant & IMC) has crossed my mind many times these last few days. My plan for next year is to complete the 30th anniversary of IMC, but I'm also really thinking about signing up for Mount Tremblant on June 15.
