the wind has been calm.
the humidity is ridiculous, though..
I'm staying waay uphill from town. Up early and out the door for my daily dozen, I was presented with two options at the end of the driveway: run straight up-hill, or run straight down-hill.
I’ll post up the altitude and heart-rate data from my watch when I’m back in the real world so you can see just how ridiculous this island is. I was busting my ass to move 6:00/km uphill… once I turned around it took all I had to slow myself down. It was actually more work to run 4:30/km downhill than it was to run 3:45/km!
It’s a lovely 20 degrees celsius here this morning. The humidity is off the charts, however, which doesn’t make for a pretty picture at the end of a workout!

Looked a lot like that except the one I saw didn't have any decals and the bars were white with black tape. Could've been him though...either way, absolutely sweet ride.
No, wasn't him, was me ;) (if it had a 303 in Front, a Xentis TT in the rear and was all white - which pretty much fits your description I'd say...)
In contrast to Timo I'm using the Walser cranks though, not SRM.
Herbert knows me, but not my current bike...

Well, FuXX probably isn't the best nick for an english forum... ;)
I just took a picture of how my bike looks right now - if it wasn't Kona I would ride a Xentis TT in the front though, it's faster and makes it look a little better. But after talking to some people (including Jan Raphael, who won Florida last year) regarding yesterdays winds inbetween Hawi and Kawaihae, I'm pretty sure it was a good choice to take this wheel.
When I'm back home, I'll get the new Walser handlebar, unfortunately it wasn't ready before I left for CA 2 weeks ago.
You can find the pic here:
http://picasaweb.google.de/...=5118785404400251026
There is another "non Cucuma" white Walser around in Kona, but that doesn't have the narrow 50mm bottom bracket. Maybe Shawn saw that one and not mine, I don't know.
aloha,
Tobias
PS: Is it possible to directly attach pix to postings here on ST? The linking stuff apparently didn't work - tried that...

Sunday evening about 6pm local time, chillin with jonnyo, Danois, Miranda, and T-Racer on the lanai of our condo, watching the sun set on the ocean. We're politely 'borrowing' wireless from the complex's office. The other member of our party is out running, doing Zone 4 repeats in front of Lava Java.
Today was the first normal weather day since we've been here. Hot and sunny in the morning, afternoon rain, hot and humid in the evening until the sun sets.

At a minimum... Monday - Friday 9:00 - 18:00. Sunday 10/14 the same.
We're closed this Saturday 10/13 as there's a race going on down at the Pier that we're all volunteering at.
Keep having the time of your life !!!! You deserve it !
I'll either see you in the water or Upstairs at Bikeworks.
With Aloha.

Hehe, exactly, keep it simple and focus on the main objectives - that's what Andy does.
And I can tell you, it's really fast. Couldn't believe how big the difference between my new and my old bike was, when testing with SRM on the track. Unfortunately I don't have Normann's legs...
aloha,
Fennec
BTW: Today Kuota had 2 Norminator bikes at the Pier, one had a Zipp 1080 in the rear - really deep. But after having a closer look at the Kueen K, I guess Normann loses a few minutes to Macca only because of his bike. The new Specialized is pretty good, about P3C level.

We saw both Kueen Ks (damn, that name is bad) at Bike Works this afternoon. The mechanic (maybe one of the Kuota guys) tried to tell jonnyo it was an 808. Jonny was like, "yeah, sure it is." BTW, there was an 808 on the second bike sitting 2 ft away and the 1080 was significantly deeper. Jonny said the 1080 didn't have quite the same shape as the 808...he compared it to the Blackwell 100 wheel shape.
I have to agree, the Kuota just doesn't
look
that fast...the tubing is very robust. I would take a Walser over anything out there. But it's still about the engine.

Even the Cat Cheetah? That's the bike that defines fast for me.

The Cheetah is cool...T-Racer is trying to convince me (although, not successfully) that she needs one. I prefer the Walser for its simplicity.

Hehe, I knew someone would say that... ;)
On the Cheetah: It's high maintenance, you have to work on it all the time. And it's not stiff, a guy like Stadler would probably be really pissed. I know Michael Rich once tested one, when he accelerated he had the feeling it would fall to pieces.
But I don't know which bike is better aerodynamically, the Cheetah isn't as slim though. And there are definitely other bikes that are more aerodynamic, The Walser Model 2 for example, or the Lotus bikes that Boardman rode. If you don't want to ride a classic diamond shaped frame, there are better options than a Cheetah - hard to get though.
Fennec
PS: Natascha has two Cheetahs here in Kona, I asked her if that is necessary and she just said, that she had a Cheetah failing in Kona in the past.
