Chain catchers...
I just finished a small batch of chain catchers for sale. (I've been selling small batches of these here on ST for several years now). These are a design that I introduced a couple of years ago. Once installed, they can be adjusted or even removed, without disturbing the front derailleur adjustment. For most of us this is a big deal. (The "K" company just introduced a new model with similar features). Mine sell for $35 complete, with shipping included. These make a great, and inexpensive, addition to your current race bike or a new build. BTW they only fit "braze on" front derailleurs.
PM me if you are interested.
Terry

Chain catcher installed

What's included...

Note: The chain catcher is machined from 2024 aluminum alloy and the mounting stud is machined from 304 stainless steel.
All the screws are also stainless steel. Complete instruction are included.

I can do matte black. (Using "Dura Coat" an epoxy finish from the firearms industry). It will take me a few days to do one though...
Thanks,
Terry

No problem shipping to Canada.
If you want one, PM me with your real (full) name and "snail mail" address and I'll send one out right away. As in the past, you don't need to pay until after you receive it. (I've been doing business on ST this way for several years and haven't been burned yet. If that changes, I'll change how I sell things.)

Just weighed one: It will add 18g to your bike's weight. (That's complete with the stainless steel mounting piece...).

I've never heard of these before so pardon my ignorance. Does it work with DA7900?

Chain catchers have been around for a few years now. Originally the were produced by team mechanics to prevent your chain from coming off the inside of the small chain ring when you shifted (maybe a bit too vigorously) from the large ring or when you hit a large bump. If you watch the major races (grand tours and such) on TV you will sometimes see chains being dropped, usually at the most inopportune times (see Andy Schleck vs Alberto Contador in a famous climbing duel during the Tour four or five years ago). I had it happen to me at St. Anthony's Triathlon several years ago. Which just shows that you don't have to be in a grand tour, or even fast, to drop a chain...
When a chain catcher is doing its job, you don't notice anything at all.
To answer your original question: yes it will work with DA7900. (I use one with DA7800 on my race bike right now).
Thanks for asking.

Got mine a while back. Cheap insurance policy and works as well as the commercial models that cost 3-4x as much.

Bump...
In response to requests, here's a picture of one in matte black...
The finish is "Dura Coat" from the firearms industry. (I have only a few of these available though)
Also, Dura Coat is expensive for me - so there's a $5 up charge for black ones.

These are only braze-on. Do you make, or plan to, one that will fit clamp-ons?

No, effective chain catchers are available for clamp on derailleurs and they're cheap...
Check this out:

However, you could get an adapter and run a Braze on DR using a clamp. Then you could use one of my chain catchers - but why spend the money?

Thanks for asking though,
