which LOOK 576 should i buy?: E-Post or RSP (regular seat post)

i'm really close to pulling the trigger on a Look 576. following a retul fit, the look geometry works particularly well with my long legs and short torso. the 576 comes in two flavors:
1) 576 E-Post: an integrated seat post with an elastomer system to reduce road vibration. you cut the carbon seat post to size.
2) 576 RSP (regular seat post): same as above, but with just a regular seat post.
anybody have experience with the 576 and have a strong opinion? do you love or hate the E-Post?

I have no personal experience with either bike, but do you plan to travel with the bike a lot? The ISP can make it difficult to fit in a standard bike box (I'm generalizing here). Just something to consider if you plan to travel a lot.

I would think that the RSP would make for easier resale somewhere down the line. What is the weight-advantage to the E-Post?

I have the 596 which is only an e-post with 3 elastomers. Training with the hard elastomer then putting in the soft for an ironman distance event makes a world of comfort difference for the better. I feel fresher for the run, especially with my 57 year old back. The 596 is a fantastic bike. Bought it from Tom D. in Michigan a couple of years ago; although I think I might need the next smaller frame, you will need to pry this one from my cold, dead hands!

As stated in the above post the E-post is totally awesome. I rode beam bikes before I bought my 596. Softrides and Zipps are great, but the e-post is equal in comfort to either of them. It may be tough to ship anywhere. But with the 596 Zed cranks and how easily they are removed and removal of the e-post it would be exactly the same as shipping a frame. This is a consideration if you plan on flying to races. If not, then there is ZERO choice......e-post!

I LOVE my 576. The e-post is super comfy. I've ridden several standard post bikes and this is by far the most comfortable bike I've ridden (especially long miles). The different post elastomers are worth it. I've shipped in a Vizio box fedex (a/b $30 each way cross-country) with no problem. I actually bought another road set-back e-post with a road saddle to switch out with a road cockpit to create an awesome road bike on the off season. I use Ritchey couplers so I don't have to re-string cables every time. I can go from tri set up to road in about 10 min.

Hello:
I know this is an old thread but I have the same dilema and I was just wondering what you end up getting.
Also I want to note that you are not only comparing the seat post type but the pics came from 2 different models, 2010 (EPost) and 2011 (RSP), they came with different components like aerobars (3T Aura on 2011 vs Profile Design Cobra on 2010) Wheels (Fulcrum vs Mavic) Saddle, Tires, etc. Also the cable goes internally on the 2011 model.
Anyway I am getting a good deal on a LBS for either one and having a hard time to decide:
2011
Pros
Better/Lighter Aerobars, Wheels, Saddle, Brake Levers, Internal Cable.
Cons
RSP Seat Post, No Pedals included
2010
Pros
E-Post, Pedals Included
Cons
Downgraded components, external cables.
Should I go with an older bike just because the seatpost???
Any feedback will be appreciated..

Hard to say. I have a 2010 with the E-Post and love it. The 576 is perhaps the most comfortable Tri bike I've ever been on (I've had five different Tri bikes over the years). However, I've never been on a 576 *without* the E-Post, so I don't know how to compare it.
There's never been a time when I've thought to myself, "Wow, this E-Post really soaks up those bumps.." For all I know, it doesn't do anything at all.. it's hard to know. There's no cushion when you push down on the seat.. the space is a very hard. The bike in general is just really comfortable and the E-Post may, or may be contributing to that.
I would tend to go with the 2011 just because you get all the nice upgrades. Is there any way you can ride both?

Also worth nothing, more competitive white people prefer triathlons because Kenyans can't afford $10,000 specialty bicycles.

Not really since they don’t have either one available and needs to be ordered, As much as it looks like a good deal, I am a little concern that the MSRP was dropped even with better components from 2010 to 2011, and now for 2012 they are not offering the Rival version it was downgraded to Tiagra/105. Looks to me that Look can’t find the right combination to sale the bike. They have plenty of 2009 and 2010 frames available.. not sure what is the catch..

The catch is, they probably don't sell a bunch.. there aren't a lot of dealers and not many people ride them, so it's probably a big effort to move more product. I love my bike, but in the triathlete world, a lot of people are like "What brand is that?!" Typically Look bikes are over-priced as well, so they're not exactly flying off the shelves.. especially when you can get a Transition or Cervelo P2 for less money.
If you look eBay, there are always people selling the 576 and 566 road bikes. Any of them that are "or Best Offer" can usually be had for much less than the Buy it Now price. A friend of mine picked up a 576, in the box, for $1500 on eBay.

Do you plan on flying with it in a bike case? Epost frame might not fit in a bike case. Can anyone confirm yes or no?

Yea definitely check Ebay... I got mine brand new from a shop for $1,275 (I wasnt actually planning on buying a bike at the time, but bought it because no one was bidding with the intention to re-sell. Once I got on it though I was sold, so I sold my road bike that I had set up with aero bars and I think ill keep this one for a long time.) There were also quite a few at the time, it was about a year and a half ago, that were buy it now for $1,999. All brand new.
Its a fantastic bike, my first carbon frame but between that and the e-post its very comfortable, feels fast, looks great and weighs nothing. I the only re-selling issue would be if you had to cut the post really short. The e-post actually has quite a bit of adjustment after you cut the carbon so you could add probably 2 inches and adjust to the mm with spacers. Id definitely go with the E-post if I was buying again.

I recently was looking at purchasing either the Look 576 RSP or e-post. This discussion helped me decide to purchase the 2011 RSP. I love it! The first fit that I had wasn't very good, so I'm even more thankful that I didn't get the e-post.
