scosche rhythm - HR Pegged at 72bpm
Not sure why it is happening though it just started earlier this month - sadly during a half.
I have done some searching and found very little on this.

Here is everything I am using and the back story:

Swim - Wetsuit or non wetsuit - this has happened.
scosche rhythm and garmin 920xt

Bike -
scosche rhythm, 920xt, Edge 510, Bontrager Duo Trap spd/cad sensor, Stages PM

Run -
scosche rhythm and 920xt again

Initially thought that the edge 510 was the root cause but then had the same problem again yesterday.
Checked the data on strava and its clearly happening right at the start of the race in the water.

This leads me to think my issue is with the actual unit.
I try turning it off and back on mid run - and it just drops out, comes back still pegged at 72bpm.

Anyone else using this?
Seen this issue?
Suggestions?

So Strava does some silly things here and I cant seem to get you what I see - so here are some screen shots of these workouts ala Garmin Connect:

Have you tried contacting them? I had a unit that got a bit of moisture damage to it and they swapped it out, and I'm a happy camper now, no issues whatsoever.

I had reached out on their website. Nothing back yet.

What was the turnaround for you?

I thought I had a bad Rhythm+ a couple months ago. (Turned out to be a problem with my 910XT.) I cannot remember if I first called them or emailed. Regardless, they were responsive and very helpful. If you have gone a couple business days without an email response, give them a call.

What ended up being your fix?

Not really a help but 72 seems to be a default number. I have seen when my battery is about to die it drops to 72 for a bit then goes blank. Sounds like an issue with the unit.

New watch. The problem turned out to be a Ant+ antenna failure inside my 910XT. The watch would work with a chest strap or the Rhythm+ if was within about 12" of the watch. However, all of the Scosche troubleshooting seemed to indicate a problem with the Rhythm+, so they sent me a replacement under warranty. It was then that I finally confirmed that the watch had failed.

I am now a happy owner of a 735XT, but I still use the Rhythm+ on my bike.

Ah interesting -
As the Edge 510 is in the mix. I have 3 possible points of failure.
Hooray troubleshooting.

Only seems to happen when I race a tri - not when I run or bike or swim by itself.
920 is still getting a few updates every once in a while.
wonder if it is even firmware related too though.

You just opened up the floodgates.

One upside for me... it never occurred to try to use the Rhythm+ swimming. I did not know it could do that. I may give that a shot for fun. I have been curious about my HR in the water.

I had to think it through why it didn't work with my 310.

Your Rhythm is always broadcasting.
The watch has to be listening.

I know that the 920 does listen while swimming mode is on.
I don't know what models do. Worth giving it a google.

Rhythm+ defaults to 72 when it can't measure the actual number. It's annoying, there must be some technical reason why defaulting to no number isn't feasible (you wouldn't want it to default to zero because that would really screw up your averages)

1 email and they sent me a warranty return label.
Shipping it out today.

Story to continue once I hear it gets there and back.
