Pros:
- It works pretty well.
- Touchscreen.
- Bluetooth and ANT+ (ANT+ with 30pin dongle + adapter)
- AirPlay or use an adapter to a big screen (limited to 4:3 as that's what iPads are (mirrored))
- Lightening to HDMI adapter allows for charging (it has a charging port next to the HDMI out)

Cons:
- Battery life/cycles.
- Small screen if you're not pushing it to something bigger.
- Can't run ANT+ dongle & charge at the same time.
- The visuals are good, not as detailed as a good gaming machine.

I'd go the AppleTV 4K over the iPad. There's a few catches there too (2 BLE devices direct, etc)

the apple tv is cheaper than an ipad and supplements cable tv. as far as a zwift solution its the cheapest thing going.

Runs perfectly on my 10.5” iPad Pro using my gen 1 Kickr, DuoTrap on the Speed Concept, and a Suunto strap.

DirectTv Now has a deal where you pay 4 months of their streaming service at $35/m you get a free Appletv 32GB 4K. So $140, no tax for a unit that costs $180+tax. You can cancel at any time. Mine came within a week of signing up.
