Heston Blumenthal

This man knows all the science, is very clever and a celebrity.

But having eaten his food I would describe him as the Zipp of cooking, he knows the science but serves up bland, fashionable, inane, low quality products, carefully packaged and marketed to dupe those with a low IQ.

Welcome to this round of being on the forum. With your celestial-sized intellect, concise, yet clear, language, and inordinate and incomprehensibly anti-ego, you'll get on well here.

The question of who is right and who is wrong has seemed to me always too small to be worth a moment's thought, while the question of what is right and what is wrong has seemed all-important.

Really?

His tip for cooking steak is the best way to ensure consistent results.

In a fry pan, flip ever 15-30 seconds for a total cook time of 3-5 minutes depending on thickness. I haven't been let down by this tip once.

There are problems here.

First, 'in a fry pan', do,you mean in a frying pan?
Second, ' ever' , do you mean over?
Third,'3 to 5 minutes', is vague.

You see, the temperature of the frying pan before you put the steak in it is all important. The thickness of the steak must be taken into account, but should one assume the steak is at room temperature?

Cooking by numbers is the last resort of the talentless chef. One must take the entire environment, the product and the equipment and the cooking temperature into account. To say 3 to 5 minutes is ludicrous. One might as well say cook until cooked.

Yes. Am I supposed to take some kind of meaning from your question? I've never been one for such typeface elitism. The other fonts available seemed way the heck too stuffy. And Gill Sans wasn't an option :)

Fair enough. :)

Edit--see what this does? Everyone will now know the full extent of my insufferable nature. ;)

Couldn't disagree more.

Single malt scotch flavoured gummy candies flavoured with individual brands and stuck to a map showing their distilleries in Scotland? Brilliant.

I imagine fulla meant 'every', because that would make actual sense.

Not sure about that. It takes a little over 2 hours for the centre of a 1 1/2" steak to reach room temperature, if your fridge is around 3 Celsius and your kitchen is around 22 Celsius.

But the real secret to a great steak is to baste the fuck out of it with butter towards the end of cooking, and then rest. For 3-5 minutes.

I didn't realize Zipps had a reputation for low quality. Wow, there's a lot of idiots racing on these without issues all year round including Kona. What a bunch of ignorant fools. I'm glad you set us all straight.
