TriHabitat in the Wilmington NC area

I don't know much about the entire project but they did just received a special use permit from Pender County to get this project moving. I'm sure there's lot of work still to go but the concept is fantastic and I hope they pull it off.

Here's a video. I'm sure they'll start sharing more information soon.

Good luck TriHabitat. I hope it's a huge success.

Ehh...they have been talking about this for years. I think it's an interesting idea but how many races a year do you have to have there before it's even profitable? Triathlon does not draw a large crowd of people to spectate beyond the athletes friends and family

I assume it is not only for racing. I live in Raleigh and I would totally drive down a few times a year and do some outdoor swim clinics or something. I think the complex itself is pretty marketable.

I live in Raleigh too. I would drive down to it if it was worth the money.

They do quite a few races in Wilmington every year (4 or 5) and then they have some that are pretty close by @ white lake.

I am assuming they will have a pool and there are not many of those in Wilmy so I would drive the 20min from town to swim and then run or ride in the country.

I live here in Wilmington and I'm excited for it. From what I've heard they will offer training camps and clinics along with fully closed race courses. We have a very strong endurance racing community here and I really hope this project works out. I think we are still quite a ways out from racing a tri under the lights, but we are heading in the right direction.

It's all about consistency. I'm slow AND my endurance sucks.
