There is one thing you might be able to do though. Do you take the weight off the pedals when changing gears? This basically just means that you keep spinning as per normal, but you just stop applying the usual amount of power for a second or so as you change gear, so that the chain can move more across easily.

wow! this is EXACTLY what he did when I took it back in, last night and the suggestion he made for shifting. He also sugguested new components as a option but I don't really like that idea, given the amount of money I paid for the bike and have already put into the bike...will never get it back.

A frame can absolutely be the cause of poor shifting, not likely, but not implausible.

Can be especially if this is an extremely small frame with short chain stays
