Couldn't do anything yesterday. Had to starve myself and drink PEG to clean me out for a colonoscopy. This time they could put me out as my RHR was 47 instead of 39 like the last one I had and remained somewhat awake through. Anyway, I digress... Taking a day off from work, recovery, you know, and swam at Corona Del Mar Beach. As I was swimming out to the second buoy, a boat decided to anchor right there and start setting up for fishing. (I didn't know it was legal for boats to be in that close). I swam past it and began my 1000 yard tour of the buoys. When I returned, they were in full fishing mode and I elected not to swim by them again and just swam up and back along the inner buoy line, doing intervals. As I returned, I smelled fish blood - they were chumming... time for me to leave. I got spooked by that and swam to shore. Only 2200 yards.
Got on the bike and rode to Sunset Beach and back almost 29 miles. Pretty flat and pushed it for a good 21+mph average. Things heating up out here. We're approaching 90 degrees.

did a taper-ish 2500m today IM focus with a bunch of drills and easy stuff, then main set was at the very end

2x200IM on 4:30 - 1st one moderate drill/stroke, 2nd one fast, but not quite flat out. 2:45 with the drag suit. My seasons best is 2:38, so that bodes well :)

then finish up with 8x50 @60 descend 1-4, ascend 5-8. :38, :35, 34, 32, 33, 36, 40, ??...

I don't know if yesterday's cycling messed up my back more, or what, but this AM it was very painful to move... do anything! I got some stretches in and decided to hit the pool to see if it would loosen up. Despite the back pain (flip turns were really hard, but in a good way), I had a great workout, good speed. My left side feels semi-normal, but the right has taken a hit. I see my PT again today. See what he has to say.

you're really cranking out the yardage!!

I hopped in for about 2K today. Helped my daughter out with her pushoffs and breakouts for about a half hour, then dropped her off at home and came back to the pool.

quick warmup followed by 5x50 pull (desc 1-5 - last one :34) 100 ez, then 5 x 50 swim desc 1-5 (last one a :31)

floated around a bit then 3 more 50's on 5:00. 29 from a push, another 29 from a push, then 27 from the blocks. (drag suit, no cap).....

total about 2000 SCM

Here's where I did my last prep this weekend for next week's 5k National champs OWS... :-) Where did you swim? :-)

The workout? 2km yesterday, 2.5km today...

I swam outside last night for the first time this year! I usually don't have access to an outdoor pool, but friends invited me to swim with them at their club. Saltwater pool, so it was a little different.

3000m with a view of the harbour.

So sad that the outdoor pool is only open for another 4.5 weeks. Le sigh...

500 w/u
4 x 50 kick (alt back/choice)
3 x 100 alt drill/swim per 25.
10 x 100 on 1:45 EASY.

2000 SCM.

It's recovery week in the 140.6 build, so no pushing the pace. Arriving on 1:30-1:33 for the 100s. Not bad, considering my old "easy" pace was around 1:45/100 yards...

I did nothing yesterday except use a $100 gift card to buy a new training suit and tech suit (and he threw in a pair of goggles for free!) My 'Go-the-Distance' suit finally got to the embarrassing translucency level and my training suit was blown out on one side.
