who does air squats or squats?

i've started doing some at the suggestion of a chiropractor and in googling the topic, it seems to be recommended all of the place as a basic strength/flexibility exercise for runners.

Are air squats like air guitar? If so, I am pro air squats!

Body weight squats and variants (single leg, lateral) were a big part of my rehab for IT band and calf problems traced back to tight/weak hips. They worked. My problems are gone, but I have to revisit them on a regular basis when I'm running a lot or else I start having knee pain.

that's funny, my chiro suggested it also to strengthen my lower back since i have a herniated disc between L4/L5. It helps me alot so I started incorporating them within my training.
