Absolutely incredible. 5 x U23 kids under 4:20 in Oz? Are you listening USAC?

I really hope we see this kid along with Taylor on a few drag race road prologues this year. Along with Tony Martin, If those two line up with FC at Paris Nice or Tour of CA we might see Spartucus off the podium in a TT for the first time in years.

I'm guessing Tom A, Andrew C, RChung and a few others are either really busy at work, or they're already analyzing the ride ;-)

If one can do 500W for 2 minutes, how far away are they from 4 minutes? :)

Can you do it in that position at 120 rpm at 148 pounds? Can you recover from the 1000 watt 2-3 sec. start effort?

I have not tried it on the tt bike, just road bike. It will be interesting to see if I can carry over the same power with practice. Right now at 148.

Well, the easy answer is ... 2 minutes ;-)

But the real answer is a LONG way :0

Sorry you are right, Jack is reported to be 68-69kg. Don't forget the 114+ ave rpm.

I'd bet he'd be capable of being in the 700 watt range for a 2 minute effort.

Sorry, I couldn't find it listed on his bio. I could guess, but I don't have anything substantiated.

What do the ST Aero Gurus think of his setup?

Flat discs - no toroidal shape or dimples. Giro helmet with several large vents.

I'm pretty sure he was on Mavic Cometes which are toroidal. He usually uses a Giro with shrinkwrap over the vents, but it appears he did not this time. That's kind of interesting, the officials may have made him remove it for not being factory spec, but that visor is not stock either...

No yaw angle on a track -> "narrowness" of the tire and disc is everything.

I read somewhere that the conditions were very good. Temps in the 40C range. Vents needed for brain function?

Methinks you meant "lenticular"...which the Comete has lenticular flanges. It does not have the torodial bulge of the Zipp or Hed type designs.

I wouldn't be certain there is no yaw. I am sure that the aussies were experimenting with really wide rear tires on the track. Not sure Jack was on them, but they are out there; and desirable for their lower rolling resistance.

Ahh, yes. That was an error on my part, I did mean lenticular. I had a very long and tough day yesterday.

When I saw the title I thought for sure when I clicked on it I was going to see a photo of a 4'10" 534 pound fat lady. But it turned to be a 4000m time.

I thought Francois was referencing his height. Was trying to figure out what the 534 was.
