When you could walk up to a table on race morning with $30 cash less than an hour b/f the mass start swim and listen to a 30 second pre-race meeting while leaning your bike against a Sycamore aka 'bike rack'. The first race I ever did that didn't have race morning sign up was Gulf Coast maybe 89 or 90? It was so bizarre to me to have to be there the day b/f for 'bike check in'. The mech looked at my 30 pound Pinarello rust bucket for 2 seconds, slapped a sticker on the stem and said 'sweet ride dude'.

I remember reading how Dave Scott would rinse his cottage cheese to remove the fat
so of course I had to try it. It did not work for me.

Find out what it is in life that you don't do well, then don't
do that thing.

Florescent pink triathlon "speedo's" with tiny felt "chamois" insert. And, no, you don't need a picture.

The seat attached to a piston that you could extend with a lever that was kinda like a mountain bike thumb shifter that mounted on your bars.

It let you switch between riding steep for the aero bars to a more "roadie" position for climbing.

This bike also has the BikeStream hydration behind the seat. Inside the neoprene sock was a latex bladder that you pumped full of fluid (it inflated like a balloon). The pressure from the bladder pushed out the drink when you bit the valve. The only problem was if any part of the system failed your drink started spraying out all over you.

When you remember when Ironman gave you a high quality running singlet and shorts as part of your Kona entry. I still have mine from 1982 and 83.
