How big are you? At 6'2", 175 lbs, the tri spokes were a handful in severe 25 mph cross winds. I was able to maintain control but it was a struggle and I do not think someone with a smaller build would have managed it.

I found the H3 F/R combo to be really challenging in the wind. Fast, but challenging. Add a disc to the H3 F and it was better. Jet6/Disc combo is best of both worlds in my book in windy conditions.

This is the relevant question.

Also, to the OP... How fast do you ride in a typical event of similar distance?

So I couldn't decide which wheelset to use and I went with regular HED Jet 60 18 spokes front and tri-spoke rear.
I cooked my legs good. I don't think that Jet 60 is as aero as tri-spoke.
Next time gonna go with all tri-spokes.

I'm still surprised I haven't seen anybody talking here, nor have I seen any picture anywhere else about the new 3 spoke clincher Hed introduced at Eurobike : the H3+ . 60mm deep, 25mm wide tubeless ready alloy rim, I was happy I saw that one as it looks really great. I guess many triathletes I've heard saying they were hoping a wide clincher 3 spoke would finally be available will be happy ;-).
