Why can't I send private messages?

I can receive private messages but when I attempt to reply to them it says "Error, you are not allowed to send private messages". My account setting is in fact set to allow me to send private messages.

From the sticky post at the top of the forum:

"FIFTH THING: in order to prevent spam via private message, we have restricted the outgoing private messaging capabilities of users. In order to SEND private messages, you must have been registered for 10 days and have made five undeleted posts (i.e., if someone clicks on the "Show user's posts" button in your profile, there needs to be at least five entries there). "

I may be way off base here, but I believe it's because you haven't posted enough. Maybe there is some information on that or the requirements somewhere at the top or middle of the forum.

All right, I have been on the forum for 11 days and have 15+ post and I still can't PM. Did I forget to ask, " mother may I", or do I need a secret handshake to get in?

Yes, you need more posts to send personal messages. The concept is that folks don't just sign up to spam other folks.
