Ok here goes....so I seem to have this small problem. Let me preface this with saying I am relatively new to the sport of triathlons and I wasn't a swimmer, runner or biker before so everything is new to me. I have participated in 4 races and so far every time I swim, in a race, wearing a wetsuit I have uncontrollable orgasms. Insert laugh here. I know men think its great and women usually laugh and have some smart comment about a magic wetsuit. But it’s really debilitating. First of all it’s very hard to concentrate because it happens an average or 4-6 times per race and it elevates my breathing to the point that I feel like I'm going to hyperventilate. So far I have talked to several people...tri coaches, swimming coaches, other athletes, my Doctor, a Doctor who is also a naturopath and also a psychologist. I don’t think that it is a friction/rubbing issue because it’s actually kind of hard to get your wetsuit that far up in between your legs. I have also worn a wetsuit in the pool a number of times and it’s never happened as well as doing open water swims without any issues. Someone suggested that I check out the site and I did find a post on an orgasm while running. I'm going to pass it off as stress related and hope that the more races I do the less it will happen.
Please tell me this has happened to someone

I am not a doctor but I would be willing to try to research this over the winter... I could visit my parents who live out that way in the winter time and I am sure I could break away for some Triathlon Research to help a good cause.

So I've heard of a similar problem. I saw it unfold on a plane once. There was this woman who seemed to have a cold or allergies. She would have this huge sneeze. Then her eyes would roll back, her teeth would clench, clearly her heart raced, and I'm guessing her toes would curl. She would moan and than shudder, and catch her breath with a contented look. Seemed like a lot of energy spent on a sneeze, and she seemed relieved when it was all over-with.
Then she'd sneeze again, eyes roll back, clench teeth, toes curl, moan shudder..contentment. It kinda went on and on a little too much, and in the spirit of the "strange denizens of the plane ride home", I watched and was eventually troubled by it.
Sneeze again...eyes..toes...moan...shudder. and again....
Finally, I could keep quiet no more, and I asked "what the hell lady, you really have a problem with that sneezing. It's quite a production and it must drain you. So what's up with it all, what have you GOT?"

Well, first, I'm sorry you've gotten some crude responses. They even have a catchy name for it - the "coregasm." No, I'm not making that up. Do you kick a lot when you swim, or are your leg muscles really tense? Sounds like this happens to women when they're working out with their lower legs and abdomen/core. And that it also has something to do with endorphins, so in that sense it makes sense that it would only happen during races.
So no advice, but at least you're not alone, and hopefully it is something that'll lessen with time, as you get more comfortable with racing. Good luck!
