What's my next road racing bike (frame)?
Let's say cost is not a factor. It is, but let's say it's not.

This new bike will be for training and racing and some long days in the mountains. I will do some crits but I have another bike for those.

I have had 2 Madones but I'm off Trek as of this last one. Frame cracked at the bottom bracket and no love from Waterloo for a replacement. Other than that they're a nice bike. But looking around for options.

I'm 6 feet 4 and 210 and put a lot of pressure on a bike. I want something stiff. Been told the BMC Team Machine is the one but have yet to try it.

Thoughts? Thanks.

New S5 obviously. I'm 6'3" and put 1,500 watts down for 5 seconds without complaint from the old S5

and the new one has:

stiffer top tube
stiffer downtube
stiffer chain stays
stiffer head tube

So should be nice!

Obviously the BMC aero-road bike handles 6'5" Taylor Phinney just fine too, so as long as you aren't stronger than him, I bet that is ok as well. Rear brake under the BB can be a bit of a hassle though.

S3 is the best racing bike on the market at the moment. Unless you are doing nothing but hill climb TT's it the best all around race bike made and at a very good price. I picked one up in late February of this year and immediately knew I was on the best bike I've ridden. I convinced two others to buy one who have won at US Nationals and both agreed. It checks all the boxes:

Ride Quality
Aero
Descends
Snappy in corners
Very stiff for sprinting
Less expensive than the higher end race bikes

and with the small seat stays, it is surprisingly comfortable in ways that the S5 is not. It also climbs well. I owned an S5, really liked it, but it had a harsher ride quality (didn't bother me at all)

BTW, I don't work for Cervelo...own a new R3 and P5 as well. Have owned many other bikes and brands....all race bikes.

And of course don't forget that the S2 is the exact same frame, exact same weight, and exact same aero as the S3

so an ever better value

I ride a Scott Foil 15 (if you have the funds you can get the better one) but it is a super nimble, fast bike, I love it

There is something about the fork on the S3 that just completes it and seems a little lacking on the S2, this comment is based purely on aesthetics but one just seems sexier than the other.

If cost is no concern I wouldn't be getting a mass-produced carbon frame, but that's just me.

If I were going to get a top of the line, state of the art mass produced carbon complete bike for long training miles, I would get a new Giant Defy Advanced SL0. If I were getting a frame, I'd get a similar frame.

The power of "suggestion" strikes again :-/

I just went through this and I'm getting a Cannondale SuperSix EVO (Force).

For me there are 3 reasons:
1) Crash Replacement Warranty
2) Brand Reputation
3) Quality

Since I race, I wanted something that is replaceable. Cannondale doesn't give you a new bike but they will give you one at a discount. Additionally, it tests well in Giant's http://www.giant-bicycles.com/...FrameTestingData.pdf weight and stiffness testing. Giants are good bikes as well; really its hard to go wrong with any major brand.

I'll take the weight and stiffness over aero considering it probably is no worse than 8 watts.

Publically available data says you're off by at least a factor of 2...

Does that make it off by 4+x on the new S5?

Good stuff. Thanks. I'm almost as strong as Taylor Phinney I think. I mean, as long as one of his legs is broken.
